“Three years, Xay.”

“I know how long it’s been.”

“Do you? Because I’m tired of hearing the same shit.”

“Heather—”

“No. You said you was leaving.”

His jaw tightened.

“You said after this. After that. Wait until the time right. Wait until the kids older. Wait until you get some shit together. Now I’m about to have your fucking baby.”

He glanced toward the club again.

I laughed without humor.

“Still worried about somebody seeing us.”

“What the fuck you expect me to do? You my bitch’s cousin. I’m supposed to tongue you down by my brother’s car?”

“I expect you to stop acting like I’m some bitch you met last week.”

“You not.”

“Then act like it.”

He rubbed his hand over his mouth.

I crossed my arms as much as my stomach allowed.

“You coming to the shower?”

“I’ll be there.”

“As what?”

He looked at me like I was stupid.

“As a fucking attendee.”

I scoffed.

“Of course.”

“What else you want me to come as, Heather?”

“His father.”

“Keep your fucking voice down.”

“There you go again.”

“You already know what’s going the fuck on.”

“Yeah.”

I nodded slowly.
