“I do.”
And that was the problem.
I had known for three years.
I reached into my purse when my phone started ringing.
Xay turned away from me like the conversation was finished.
Well, ain’t that some shit.
I looked up at Xay.
He was already walking toward his brothers car.
I answered.
“Hello?”
“Where you at?” Sam asked.
I watched her husband climb into the car.
“Out.”
“You busy?”
“Not really.”
“I’m about to run to Target and grab the rest of the stuff for your shower. Come with me because I don’t know what the hell else you need.”
I closed my eyes for a second.
Of course she was.
My cousin.
Planning my baby shower.
For the baby I had made with her husband.
“Yeah,” I said, opening my eyes. “I’ll meet you.”
“Okay. The one by me.”
I chuckled.
“All right, Sam.”
“Bye.”
The call ended.
I lowered my phone and rubbed my hand over my stomach when Collin shifted hard against my side.
“Your daddy is getting on my fucking nerves.”
I waddled back toward my truck.
