Jenna was worth waiting for, and my ass would be waiting as long as it took for her to decide that I was her guy.
Unfortunately, my normally patient demeanor flew out the window when it came to Jenna.
“Good luck with that,” Gage quipped. “I still say she needs to move here.”
“Try to be subtle with this supposed campaign,” I warned my friends.
They could be a lot when they were all trying to get something they wanted at the same time.
I knew them.
Jenna would end up bombarded by reasons that she should stay in Michigan.
All the damn time.
All hours of the day and evening.
They were about as subtle as a sledgehammer sometimes.
“We’ll keep it cool,” Seth promised.
I doubted that, but they knew better than to overwhelm someone who was already dealing with recent trauma.
My brothers might be tenacious, but there was a well-hidden compassion in their hearts.
There had to be, to do what they did for Last Hope.
“I’m starving,” Gage announced. “I’m ordering pizza. I’ll get plenty if anyone wants to swing by later.”
“Water’s Edge Tavern?” Nate questioned, naming the best place in the area for good pizza.
Gage lifted a brow. “Is there anywhere else for pizza? That’s one thing we don’t do at the Beachfront Café.”
“I’ll be there,” Seth rumbled.
“Save me some pizza,” Gage complained as he shot Seth a warning look.
“You coming?” Nate asked as he looked at me. “I’ll swing by and pick up Sara.”
I shrugged. “I’m pretty sure Jenna will want to come.”
For a woman who had spent most of her time alone, she was always game to spend time with friends now.
“Pretty sure Jenna will want to go where?” she asked as she entered the room.
Fuck! She looked beautiful in a pair of skinny jeans and an emerald-green top that matched her eyes.
“Gage is ordering pizza from Water’s Edge,” I informed her.
She beamed at Gage, which made me want to wrap her in my arms so that gorgeous smile was turned in my direction.
Yeah, I was loyal and tight with everyone on my team, but that didn’t necessarily mean that I wanted Jenna to show quite so much adoration for all of them.
Fuck! I was getting ridiculous, and I knew it.
But we were in a stage of our relationship that wasn’t as secure as I wanted it to be.
Jenna was mine, but she didn’t know that yet, and it made me want to punch any guy who caught her attention in any way.
