Heavy Petting

It took an injured dog to bring them together, but it’s going to take a miracle — and maybe some dog treats — to help them find love.

Mabel
I’ve always been a little different. Some people might call me eccentric, but I prefer to think of myself as free spirited. Now that I’m divorced, I’m done pretending to be someone I’m not. I move to Starlight Bay, buy a house with a view of the beach, and spend my days writing cozy mysteries and offering tarot card readings to tourists. Everything is going great, at least until my rescue dog Esmerelda gets injured…

Joshua
As a veterinarian in a town that caters to tourists, I see a lot of weird things. But this is the first time I’ve ever had to cut a dog out of a princess costume. Apparently it’s “Dress Up Your Dog Day” and this poor pup’s wacky owner thought it would be fun to celebrate – at least until her dog went after a squirrel and got injured.

Mabel and I couldn’t be more different, but the more I run into her the harder it is to remember why that matters. The curvy beauty is making me feel things I’ve never felt before. I’ve avoided relationships for fifty years, but suddenly I’m thinking about engagement rings and happily ever after, but it’s going to take a lot of convincing to show this independent woman that I love her just the way she is.
