Together or not, Jenna Moran was mine.
She’d always be mine, and she was always meant to be mine.
I’d never wanted a damn relationship because the women I’d been with weren’t Jenna.
I wasn’t meant to be alone.
I just hadn’t met Jenna yet.
Gage raised a brow. “You sure about that?”
“I think I’d off any guy who tried to take her away from me,” I shared.
“I think he’s sure,” Nate said drily.
I shook my head. “I know it’s crazy, but I can’t seem to control it. The only reason I haven’t gotten crazy possessive with Jenna is because she doesn’t need that right now. I’ve forced myself to hide it. She’s already dealing with anxiety from the kidnapping. I can’t afford to lose my shit. The last thing I want is to scare her off. You all know her background. I need her to trust me. That’s not going to happen if I can’t control my own emotions.”
Every time I saw the desire in her gorgeous green eyes, I wanted to back her against the nearest wall and fuck her until we were both sated.
It wasn’t easy knowing that she wanted me the same way without losing my mind over it.
But I wanted more than just a fuck.
I wanted everything she had to give and probably more.
She was going to have to learn to trust me completely, which meant I needed to keep my head together.
“You’re the steadiest guy I know,” Seth assured me.
I shook my head. “Not when it comes to her. She makes me completely insane, but I don’t think she’s noticed that yet. Thank fuck!”
“Please tell me that you won’t end up like Marshall was when he was in California and Emma was here,” Seth entreated wryly. “Wyatt swears he wasn’t in his right mind until Emma got to California.”
“No promises,” I said grimly.
I could absolutely see myself acting exactly like Marshall had been without Emma.
Hell, I almost hated myself for wondering how a guy could get that gone over a woman back then.
I totally understood it now.
“Great,” Nate drawled. “I’m starting a campaign right now to convince Jenna that she needs to move to Michigan. I’d rather not see that kind of crazy.”
“I’ll help,” Seth said immediately.
“I’m in,” Gage agreed. “And I think Sara is already working on it. She really likes Jenna. She’s going to be crushed when another friend leaves for California.”
“If it’s any consolation,” Nate said, “I know the feelings are mutual. She looks at you like you hung the moon and the stars.”
She also looked at me like she desperately wanted me to make her come, and I liked it that way.
I wasn’t quite sure how I’d handle it if she didn’t want me the same way that I wanted her.
That would be absolute agony.
Luckily, the chemistry between us was real and nearly tangible.
I shrugged. “I need more, but I’m going to have to be patient.”
