“Hmm,” Liam replies. “There’s no other reason why you’re taking me to Hunt’s favorite shoot-and-dump spot?” There’s a pause, and then Liam says with a heavy dose of fake surprise, “Oh, did you not know that the Bay is his favorite place to kill people? Hmm, maybe you’re next, not me.”

“He’s grinning like a madman,” Zemi replies. “This is highly entertaining.”

“Liam!” Atlas mutters. “Are you trying to get shot?”

“I’m joking of course. Hunt wouldn’t do that. I’m sitting on a multimillion-dollar deal for him. It would be a bad business move for him to kill me,” Liam corrects, seeming to actually listen to Atlas. Although I’m not sure how helpful his correction is because he didn’t say that Hunt wouldn’t kill Callum, just that it wouldn’t be a good idea for Hunt to kill Liam.

It has successfully distracted Callum though, and I’m thinking that was probably the whole point. To distract him so he doesn’t realize that he’s being followed by several agents or that there is anything else amiss.

One by one, the others all announce that they’ve walked past them and that they’re following after Liam and Callum at a distance until they come into view. They walk right underneath us, and I keep my eyes glued to them both as they head past us and closer to the docks.

Callum leads Liam further away than we thought he was going to be, which means Luc and I are going to have to get down from our safe hiding spot and move closer so we’re ready when Atlas takes Hunt out.

“We need to move,” Luc says quietly as he quickly explains the situation to the others. He then adds, “We need to wait until Hunt goes past.”

“Be careful. He’s got people following at a distance,” Trick replies.

“We’ll intercept if need be,” Zee says.

“Everyone else has spread out as planned and is coming at the target area from different angles. So he should have no escape in the unlikely event that Atlas misses, and so that we’re prepared for everyone who is likely to attack,” Trick replies.

“Got it,” Luc says.

We watch and wait as Hunt passes underneath us, heading to meet Liam, and sure enough, two more heavily armed men follow from further behind him. We wait for a couple more minutes to make sure that no one else is following before Luc and I carefully make our way down off the top of the shipping containers.

My feet haven’t even touched the ground when Atlas’s voice comes through the comms.

“I’ve got eyes on him,” he says calmly. “It’s not a clean shot. Liam, try and get him to move to the right by about three feet.”

Luc and I slowly and cautiously move into position so we have eyes on the situation.

“Hunt,” Liam greets him deceptively warmly. “Interesting place for us to meet, considering its reputation.”

Hunt waves his hand dismissively. “Ah, you don’t have to worry about that, old friend. We are merely here so we can see my latest shipment come in.”

Liam moves to the right, and Hunt tracks his move, stepping with him.

Liam tuts, a dark smile on his face, “Ah, Cunt are we really going to pretend right now?”

Alaric and Mr. R groan.

“For fuck sake, Liam,” Mr. R chastises.

Hunt stiffens, and then shrugs as he draws a gun, pointing it directly at Liam’s forehead.

Liam smiles.

Looking entirely unbothered, he moves again, puts his hands in his suit pant pockets, and rocks on his heels.

“Aw, you shouldn’t be so easy to rile up,” Liam says tauntingly.

Hunt’s grip tightens on his gun.

“I haven’t got a shot yet,” Atlas says. “I need him a little more to the right, Liam.”

Hunt’s anger suddenly clears, and he smiles.

Whatever is about to come out of his mouth next, I know for a fact that none of us are going to like it.
