“You don’t like my suit, Callum?” Liam retorts. “I think one should always be well dressed in these situations.” His lighthearted voice turns sharper as he adds, “I always say wear something you wouldn’t mind being buried in.”
“Liam,” Alaric warns, sounding exasperated already.
When the hell did Liam put on a suit? He wasn’t wearing one earlier.
Callum laughs off his words. “Not very many places to hide weapons though.”
“Are you sure about that?” Liam taunts. He then adds, “Ah, ah, I have a deal with your boss.”
“He’s armed?” Atlas asks, sounding surprised.
“He’s not supposed to be,” Mr. R replies drily.
Clearly, it’s not that unexpected that Liam has somehow managed to smuggle a weapon when he’s not supposed to have one at all.
“Maybe he’s bluffing,” Jensen suggests.
“It would be foolish not to be armed in a situation like this, would it not?” Liam replies, simultaneously answering Callum and Jensen.
He’s good.
Really fucking good.
There’s silence for a while as they walk.
“We’ve got eyes on Hunt,” Pete says. “He’s walking through the yard. He’ll get to the location after Liam. Which I’m assuming is intentional.”
“I’ll let you know when I’ve got eyes on him,” Atlas says. “Conditions are good at the moment.”
Liam and Callum continue to shoot the shit.
Liam is doing it in such a clever way though, that he’s managing to get information out of Callum, and Callum isn’t even aware that he’s giving up information that he probably shouldn’t.
“They’ve just passed us. We’re moving into position,” Jensen says.
“We’ve got eyes on them too,” Raid says.
“Liam’s suit is bright red in case anyone was wondering,” Zemi adds, as they must go past where she is. “Looks better than you would think.”
“Thank you,” Liam replies.
“Who are you thanking?” Callum asks suspiciously.
“The people in my head.” Liam replies in such a way that it sounds absolutely terrifying.
“Liam snapped his teeth at Callum. The poor guy sped up and went as white as a ghost,” Jensen explains, sounding amused.
“Liam,” Alaric groans.
I’m starting to understand what Alaric meant every time that he said he was worried that Hunt might take Liam out before the planned meeting if Liam doesn’t behave himself.
I had no idea that Liam was such a menace, but it’s actually pretty fucking funny.
“They’ve gone past us. We’re heading after them,” Riot confirms.
“So, where’s Hunt?” Liam asks, after he lets the awkward silence go on for as long as he possibly can.
“He’s meeting us at the Bay,” Callum says. It’s obviously a nickname for the place where they’re heading. “There’s a shipment coming in, and Hunt wants to oversee it.”
