“How long has he been working here?” I asked as we made our way up the stairs.

“A couple of years now. And he’s so smart. I know he pretends he’s just interested in answering phones, but I have to wonder.” She pushed open the door to the reception area and I followed her through.

Luci stopped and opened the conference room door, peeking inside, then turning back to me. “Hmm.”

“Why don’t you call him?”

“I could. But if he’s interviewing or they took him out to lunch…” She appeared incredibly excited. “I don’t want to interrupt. But I’ll grab him something just in case.”

We started toward the elevator as it dinged, signaling the car’s arrival. Since we hadn’t called it, that meant someone had arrived.

The doors opened and Jordan stepped out, Landon and Langston behind him.

“Whoa,” Luci said with a dramatic flair. “Don’t you look spiffy.”

Jordan’s cheeks got a little more colorful all of a sudden.

“Thanks.”

He did look nice in the black suit and snow-white shirt. The ruby-red tie was a nice touch, too. In fact, he looked just like the other executives in this office.

Luci continued to smile at all three of them. “We were just heading down to lunch. Want to go with us?”

Though her question seemed directed at Jordan, Landon shook his head. “We just ate. But call something in for you and Addison. We need the two of you in the office right now.”

Luci frowned. “Is everything all right?”

“I’d like you ladies to conduct an interview,” Landon explained, glancing down at his watch. “In about twenty minutes.”

Me? They wanted me? I knew absolutely nothing about interviewing people.

“Dale’s coming in,” Jordan clarified. “He’s going to interview for—”

Luci clapped her hands before he could even finish the statement. “He’s going to be the new receptionist?” She glanced over at me. “Dale is Jordan’s submissive.”

Didn’t surprise me.

“Slow down, little one,” Langston crooned, a smirk on his face. “Let’s take it one step at a time.”

“Does that mean…?” Luci’s head bobbed back and forth on her shoulders. “Are you…?”

“We’ve asked Jordan to join us in handling the publishing side of things,” Langston noted. “As for what that entails, we’re just getting started.”

Luci squealed. “That’s awesome!”

Not knowing what to say or do, I smiled.

Roughly fifteen minutes later, I found myself in the conference room with Luci and Dale. The guy was prompt and had arrived a few minutes early.

Jordan’s submissive, as Luci had referred to him, was a very attractive man. And the moment I saw him, I recognized him from the club.

I pegged him to be in his mid-twenties at the most, but he seemed older, as though he’d had some experiences in his life that had weighed on him. I knew the feeling. I probably looked several years older than twenty-nine thanks to the hard life I’d had.

While Jordan was on the shorter side with blond hair and blue eyes, Dale was his exact opposite, coming in closer to six feet with dark hair and dark brown eyes. They were a nice complement to one another. And I’d always found it incredibly hot to watch Master J dominate a submissive who was bigger than he was.

“Just out of curiosity,” Luci began, “why are you interested in the position? I assume you’re aware of what it entails?”

Dale grinned. “I’m well aware. And I’m interested because it’ll get me out of retail, first of all. That’s been a goal of mine for quite some time, though I tend to be a little cautious about making those decisions.”

“Why has it been a goal?”

“I’ve always wanted to work in an office. It’s a unique environment. One I’d like to try my hand at.”

He had a very clear speaking voice, if that counted for anything.

While Dale had called it a unique environment, I had to wonder if he knew the strange things that took place here. I mean, even I had already been completely naked in Mr. Parker’s office. Once. I figured that was a frequent occurrence based on what I knew of these people. Considering he was Jordan’s submissive, surely he knew all the dirty details.

“Tell us about your background,” Luci suggested.

“Mostly retail. I’ve been with my current employer for ten years.”

“Wow. That’s…” She was clearly taken aback by that information. “A long time.”

“I’m rather loyal,” he said, a slight pink tinge to his cheeks.

“Do you think you’ll have an issue working with Jordan? Would it be weird for you? Especially if you had to take orders from him?”

I sputtered out a laugh, then covered my mouth with my hand. “I’m so sorry.”

Dale grinned. “Nope. I got it, too.”

Luci had a slight flush to her face. She obviously realized what she’d said. “I didn’t mean it like…” She waved him off. “Sorry.”

Dale shook his head. “Don’t apologize. Not only do I take orders well from him, but we’ve worked together in the past. Before he started working here, in fact. It’s not an issue. I know how to keep my personal and professional life separate.”
