Of course, I had no idea what had happened with Mr. Parker after everything went down that first night. Why he had retreated so hastily was beyond me, but it had seemed a bit out of character for him. From what I knew of him, anyway. And I wasn’t sure it was my place to ask, so while I desperately wanted to know, I’d been keeping my mouth shut.

As for today…

Well, things between us seemed normal but not.

Different, perhaps.

Whether it was me or Mr. Snowden or Mr. Parker—perhaps all three of us—I couldn’t yet tell, but something had shifted in our relationship. For the past two weeks, I’d had dinner with them every night, they took me to Dichotomy when I had to work, and they talked to me endlessly in the office. Mr. Parker had even sat in on Master Edge’s Introduction to Submission class. I figured it was to ensure I was paying attention, which I had been. Especially when Master Edge put him on the spot and had him provide a few lessons of his own.

Despite the three-day hiatus, it appeared we were moving full steam ahead on the path that would lead to some serious orgasms. One that was kinky and sexy and…making me more and more curious by the second.

Curious.

Probably a strange word for the platform of this newfound world I was living in, but it seemed fitting. I was eager to spend more time with them, to learn new things, to witness the steam that came from them when they were together.

If they would take that next step, that was.

Of course, all of this sexual frustration was interfering with my new job. Only because I had absolutely nothing to do other than sit with Luci and take notes. And when I was left to my own devices, my mind started to wander, as well, which meant hot-and-bothered was the new state I was in.

Thankfully today I’d been able to spend some time with Jordan. The guy made me laugh. He also made me feel comfortable around him. He didn’t intimidate me the way Doms usually did. I figured that had a lot to do with his laid-back nature, his request for me to see him as a friend, not a Dom.

And Luci…

She was one of the nicest people I’d ever met. I meant genuinely freaking nice. She was doing her absolute best to keep me up to speed on everything taking place, although I could tell she was a little out of sorts with all the things happening with the interviews. They had become a daily occurrence, it seemed. She was greeting each person, getting them situated in the conference room, ensuring they had coffee or tea, then working with Landon, Langston, Mr. Snowden, and Mr. Parker to ensure they knew when and where they needed to be. She was running around like mad and I could tell it was getting a little stressful. Especially since they hadn’t hired anyone yet.

I wanted to do something to help, but I wasn’t sure what I could offer. So, I’d opted to come back to my desk to stay out of the way. This morning, I had finally insisted that I answer any calls for Mr. Snowden or Mr. Parker since that seemed to be the only thing I was capable of doing.

Except those were few and far between, and now it was lunchtime and my stomach had started rumbling about an hour ago.

“Hey, girl,” Luci called out as she was coming down the stairs. From my spot at my desk, I could see everyone coming and going. “I was hoping to grab Jordan and head down for a sandwich. You ready?”

That was something else I liked about Luci. She didn’t give me an out. Her questions were always phrased in a way that made me either accept or come up with an excuse. I hated excuses.

“I’d love to,” I said when she stuck her head in the door.

“Have you seen Jordan?”

I shook my head. “Not in a while.”

“Hmm. Well, I say we go find him. I’m starving.” She giggled, pushing her hair behind her ear as we started walking. “He’s usually at his desk no matter what time of day it is, but something’s going on. Lately he’s been missing.”

“You think it has to do with what you said? How Landon and Langston were talking about him?”

“Could be.” Her smile widened. “What if they’re going to promote him? Let him handle some accounts? That would be awesome.”

“Is that what he wants to do?” Unfortunately, I knew little about the man.

“He’s never mentioned it, but Master and Sir seemed quite interested in getting him off the phones.”

I loved how she so casually referred to Langston and Landon by their Dom names. In fact, I hadn’t heard her call them anything else except for that first night at dinner when there were strangers around.
