Liam had been my best friend for as long as I could remember. His family handled imports and exports. They owned multiple airfields, planes, and even a cargo ship. More than once, we’d ordered and snuck something we shouldn’t have into the country with Liam’s help. Forging documents in his father’s name was a valuable skill that we would need in the future.
“You’re a fuckin’ cheater, man,” Myles said and slammed his stick down on the pool table.
“Why do you bother to play him? You know you’re going to lose,” I said, and Myles glared at me.
“He cheats. I know it. I just need to figure out how.”
“I’m not cheating. It’s called skill. Now pay up. I won.”
Theo held out his hand, and the smug grin tugging at the corner of his mouth was the only indication he was amused. Theo was one of those obnoxiously good at everything types, and we’d all made the mistake of challenging him at some point.
Grumbling, Myles slapped the hundred down on his palm. Theo’s green eyes were full of his typical arrogance but mixed with humor that only we would notice. Everyone thought Blake was the bad boy, but the shit Theo came up with was the best, and he was the first to start a bet between us. At least the girls stopped asking out the wrong brother now that Theo had cut his hair short.
“Cheater, I swear I’ll figure ya out.” Myles pointed at Theo.
Theo enjoyed riling Myles up as much as the rest of us. He was like an enraged hornet when he got going and kept us laughing.
I fucking hated that I had to apologize to Myles the other night after suggesting he leaked info. I’m not even sure why I did it. It wasn’t like I thought he would, but I was pissed and Myles was a great target. He always fought back, and I never knew if I would actually win the fight. Myles had a load of skill that we never talked about, but both knew how he’d acquired it. Most would decide that was a good reason to avoid a fight, but I loved the challenge.
Apologizing wasn’t something I did. My father had beaten into me that apologizing even when wrong was a sign of weakness. Even though it went against my nature, I apologized and still owed him a beer.
“Where the fuck is Blake,” Myles asked as he wandered over and grabbed a handful of chips from the bowl on the table. “I need to make my money back.”
“He’s coming with Ren,” Theo said, and Myles choked on the chips he was swallowing.
“What the fuck?” Myles shook his head. “No, there’s no way. I don’t believe you.”
Theo shrugged. “Believe me or not, he said he’d be late ‘cause he was bringing Ren.”
“Son of a bitch.”
Myles’ fists balled, and because I was an asshole in a mood, I decided to add to his misery.
“I’m sure nothing will happen. Unlike me spanking her yesterday. She loved every second of it.”
“What?” Myles looked like he was going to have a heart attack as his face flamed red and his eyes bugged out. “There is no fuckin’ way she’d let ya willingly spank her.”
I shrugged. “Who said anything about willingly? I told her I’d pay her back for what she did.” I leaned forward and casually grabbed a handful of chips while Myles looked ready to erupt like a volcano. “I found her after school, and she felt real good under my hand.” I held up my palm to show Myles. “It still tingles, and she has the cutest moan. I was tempted to fuck her on the teacher’s desk. She might’ve let me, but Mrs. Frey walked in.”
“Yer fuckin’ lyin’. There is no way she’d let ya do that.”
“She protested, but it’s always the ones that argue that want it the most.” I popped a couple of chips in my mouth, enjoying way too much how this was irritating Myles. “And I do mean she moaned. She got my cock hard. That tells you all you need to know.”
Myles scoffed. “Please, ya git hard over any hole ya think ya might be able to stick yer cock in. Besides, I’ve seen the way she looks at ya. She wants to rip yer cock off, not kneel in front of it.” Myles pointed at me. “That’s how I know yer lyin’.”
“Am I?” Total exaggeration, but to get that look on Myles’ face was worth it every time.
“It looks like you’re falling further behind,” Liam said, pulling out his little black book. I wondered just how many bets he was managing for the school. There was always something going on. “I’ll give you three points for taking her shopping and almost going to dinner, but that did end in an epic fail,” Liam drawled as he scribbled.
“Fuck ya. It wasn’t a fail. We had a connection.”
“Define connection for me,” Theo said. Liam smiled while I laughed. There were no four words better, to sum up Theo.
“I mean that we talked and laughed and…shit, we had a thing going until Pam.” Myles pinched the bridge of his nose. “It was real. I’m not making it up,” he added when none of us said anything.
“Did she say she liked you,” Theo asked.
“No.”
