“Just a disagreement about technique,” I said, and Ren mumbled something under her breath as she took a purposeful step back and crossed her arms over her chest.

“Is that what’s happening here, Ren,” Mrs. Frey asked as she placed her hands on her hips.

Ren looked at me and then at Mrs. Frey. “Yup, that’s all that is happening. You know how passionate I get about my art. Nash made his point, but he was just leaving,” she lied, and I smiled, giving it my best innocent look.

“Until the next disagreement, Princess,” I whispered.

“There won’t be a next time,” she smoothly whispered back, and I wished she had just kept her mouth shut cause now I was even more determined to make sure there was.

“We’ll see about that.” Smiling, I crossed the room and ignored the glare from Mrs. Frey. She could believe whatever she wanted. I already knew Ren wouldn’t say a word. What I’d said was true. She did like it, I know she did, and that created confusion for her perfect little morals.

The further I got away from Ren, the more I felt like I’d accomplished nothing other than frustrating myself and gaining a raging hard-on that I now needed to take care of. Of course the one night I could’ve really used Vicky’s mouth, she was off to the movies with her girlfriends. How had this gotten so turned around that I was the one with a fucking hard-on, and she seemed as unfazed as when I started.

I wasn’t sure if I liked that or didn’t like it.

“Fuck, nothing is going the way I plan lately.”

NOVEMBER 12 – SATURDAY 8:48 PM

Nash

The party was loud, but the laughter from Vicky and her friends as they showed off was somehow louder. I avoided parties with her for this reason. Vicky got overly excited, and I kept expecting her to pee on my foot. I wasn’t a fan of being touched or draped on, and had my father to thank for that, yet Vicky couldn’t go a second without trying to sit in my lap or cling to a body part. I could only take it for so long before needing to get the fuck away from her.

I clenched my hand into a fist, it still fucking tingled like Ren’s ass was a ghost limb. Opening my hand I stared at my palm, wondering what her skin looked like afterward. Did her ass tingle like my hand? I wanted to know if she pulled down her underwear and glared at the handprints in the mirror. I bet she did. The scowl on her face was so clear in my mind. She deserved every single one for mouthing off to me, embarrassing me, and making me look like an idiot. Anyone else would have gotten far worse. She got off easy as far as I was concerned.

I untangled myself from the octopus Vickyand pushed myself up off the couch. She grabbed my hand, instantly pissing me off.

“Where are you going?” Vicky’s lower lip was pushed out as she tugged on my hand to sit down. It was a good fucking thing she came from such a powerful Italian family or I would’ve killed her by now.

I could feel her friends’ eyes on us. They all annoyed me. Every single one of them had tried to sleep with me, even though I was with Vicky, but they had the nerve to call her their friend. Not that I really gave a fuck—it wasn’t like I’d ever told Vicky we were exclusive—and I even took a couple of them up on the offer, but that wasn’t the point. I felt like I was in a school of piranhas, the way they hungrily focused on me. I’d never admit this, but it was fucking unnerving.

“Piss, drink, and find my boys, not necessarily in that order,” I said, jerking my arm out of her hold.

“Oh, can you get me a new drink when you come back?”

She swung the red plastic cup between her fingers, her pout exaggerated. Vicky was already half in the bag, and it wasn’t even nine o’clock. I was suddenly very fucking happy that I hadn’t given her a ride.

“I don’t know when I’ll be back.”

Walking away, I went on the hunt for Liam and Theo. I’d seen them come in earlier, so I knew they were here. Poking my head in all the rooms, I ignored the flirty stares and whispers from those that only knew me by reputation. The girls from Sacred Heart Academy seeked me out at other parties, but this was not a place I typically came to, yet… here I was.

Laughter was coming from the basement as I jogged down the stairs. I found a rec room with a bar, pool tables, dartboards, and a small dance floor. Okay, this was fucking cool. We didn’t have separate houses back at Wayward, so it was impossible to do something like this. The most we had was a communal sitting area, but we were limited to one television and a couple of tables.

Myles and Theo were playing pool while Liam sat on the couch watching with a cigarette hanging from his lips. His eyes were unfocused as he stared at the hockey game on the television. I stayed on the outer edge of the room so he wouldn’t see me coming and stopped beside him. His arm was resting on the couch and I grabbed it as I spoke.

“Didn’t quit, I see,” I growled.

I’d never seen him jump so high or look as guilty. Chuckling, I let go of his arm.

“Fuck man, don’t do that to me.” Liam pulled the unlit smoke from his lips and held it up. “It’s not lit. I miss the habit and the stress relief. This helps.”

I glared at the guy sitting across from us in a leather chair.

“Get out of here.” He jumped and took off into the crowd so I could flop down. “You know I only ride your ass ‘cause I care.” Liam’s sarcastic stare made me smirk. “Okay, I care mostly about the swim team, but I still care. I’ll even buy you a spinner.”

“So generous of you.” He smiled.

“Fine, I’ll make it two.” I smirked.
