“You know, I saw some great flooring online,” Spike said as I started peeling the floor up again.

“Oh yeah?” I asked, smirking.

“I watch hot chicks doing DIY projects to relax.”

“That’s a kink I haven’t heard of before.”

“I like what I like,” Spike said with a shrug.

“Hey!” a female voice called, making us both exhale hard before glancing over.

And there was a blue-eyed blonde that had my mind circling back to a more age-appropriate one sitting at a bar, sipping hard cider, asking me about my past.

“Which one are you?” Spike asked, keeping his gaze on her face, despite her standing there in nothing but a butter yellow set of underwear.

The blonde and blue made me sure it was one of West’s daughters.

“Rowan. And you’re Spike and Cain. Our escorts for the day.”

I sighed.

“Where are we going?” Spike asked, a mix of intrigued and concerned.

“The Hollows!”

“We already did The Hollows,” Spike said.

“Yeah, with the club girls,” Rowan said with a nose wrinkle. “Now, you’re going to take us.”

Spike and I shared a look.

Six tequila-drunk girls being chased around by chainsaw-wielding horror actors through the woods.

What could possibly go wrong?

“I’ll call Dante Grassi,” I said. “See if we can get the place closed down for—”

“No,” Rowan said, shaking her head. “You don’t need to do that. That kills half the fun.” She paused, shooting the two of us a wicked smile. “And it makes your job too easy,” she added before spinning back out of the room.

Spike was silent for a second. “I’m not sure Malc, Dezi, or Sully are going to be of much help,” he said. “I don’t think the other girls deliberately fucked with them.”

“And there were the more reasonable girls like Luna, Willa, and Gracie to keep things from getting too wild. I don’t think we’re gonna be as lucky.”

“We can hope that Camden’s girls will be voices of reason when they make their way back.”

“Three fresh out of college girls?” he asked, shooting me a look.

“Yeah. You’re right. We’re fucked.”

“At least we get apple cider donuts,” he said with a shrug. “I’ll go gas up the SUV.”

A few hours later, we were wandering around The Hollows as the girls giggled and squealed through the massive (haunted) corn maze.

They’d forbidden us from going in with them.

But I’d been standing close by in case any of them had a panic attack in there.

Which was why I’d been standing just two feet from the exit when she emerged, wide-eyed and panicked.
