RORY: Sorry, no can do. I’m at the salon with the girls and already two glasses of champagne in.
ME: Of course. Georgie and Mal are corrupting you.
RORY: Blair’s here too.
Blair’s there?
For some reason, that settles something in my chest. She already has people here. For someone new to town, she seems to be fitting in quickly.
Not that I thought she’d have much trouble.
Apparently, everyone in Hartwell likes her.
Apparently, I fucking do too.
I consider asking Knox for a ride but immediately decide against it. His shit-eating grin is the last thing my head needs this morning.
I text Logan instead.
ME: Can you give me a ride into town?
LOGAN: Be there in five, brother.

Logan pulls up five minutes later and, of course, Knox is riding shotgun.
Great.
So much for a peaceful drive.
I climb into the back seat, immediately catching Knox’s shit-eating grin.
“Have fun after we left?” he asks.
“Blair gave me a ride home.”
Logan laughs from behind the wheel. “Bet she did.”
“Nothing happened,” I snap.
“I didn’t ask if anything happened.” Knox turns in his seat to face me, his grin widening. “Interesting that you felt the need to clarify, though.”
“Can we shut the fuck up about it?” I mutter.
Logan glances at me in the rearview mirror. “Nothing happened, but you wanted it to.”
I turn toward the window.
Fucking idiots.

We walk into Coast Café, which just happens to be right next to the salon.
Where Blair is right now.
I’m definitely not wondering what she’s doing on the other side of that wall. Or whether she’s laughing with Rory the way she laughed with me last night.
