“It’s one twenty with the truffle mayo.”
“Only you could get away with charging that for what is basically a chicken and bacon sandwich.”
Mason chuckled. “But do those other sandwiches taste like this?”
“You know they don’t. Fine, but you need to sit down and not go off on one.”
Mason immediately sat down. “Has something happened?”
“Zeb has a new boyfriend.”
Mason felt sick. His entire body shook, and he wasn’t sure why.
“You clearly look delighted by that news.”
“What do you know about this guy? When did they meet? Where does he work? Where does he live? How old is he?”
Deacon raised an eyebrow and then took a large bite of the sandwich. His green eyes gave away that the fucker was messing with him. Deacon then chewed slowly while Mason tapped his foot, getting more irritated by the second.
“All I know is that his name is Kaden, he works in finance, and he’s twenty-seven.”
“Did you say twenty-seven?”
“I know. I was surprised as you were when I heard that. It’s a good thing, though, isn’t it?”
No, it wasn’t a good thing. Who the fuck was this guy, and what were his intentions?
“Where did they meet?”
“Luckys!”
“Are you for real?”
“He went in for a drink with Hunter that Sunday when Charlie and Sebastian were over. They exchanged numbers and met for dinner during the week and have been seeing each other a lot since, is what Hunter told me.”
“That was a month ago. Why am I only just hearing about this now?”
“Isn’t that a question for you to ask Zeb?”
Mason ignored him. “Do you know where this Kaden works or lives?”
“Strangely enough, I don’t have that information.”
“How are we supposed to run a background check on him?”
Deacon chuckled, and then his eyes widened when Mason glared at him.
“Oh, you’re serious.”
“Of course I am.”
“And that’s perfectly normal to you, is it?”
“I’m just protecting my . . . my employee.”
“Right, well. I won’t be getting involved in any of that, and I’m sure Sebastian won’t either.”
“I have my own people.”
