What the fuck had just happened?

37

JOSIAH

My head spun as I got to my feet, quickly tugging my pants up to cover my wet dick. Glowing cum was quickly cooling on my skin. I’d have done anything for a hot fucking shower after that, but that still weren’t the main concern on my mind.

What was that? It had been entirely unexpected, but I couldn’t say it was unwanted. I’d been into it. Really into it. And that alone was a lot to process.

Tusks wasn’t human. Not only that, but he weren’t even able to speak to me. It was clear in my dreams that we’d been romantic, maybe even intimate in the past. But I still hadn’t uncovered the origins of them, and what they really meant. They were memories, I was fairly sure of that, but were they really mine? The truth was that, despite the way I sought him out every single time I slept, I still didn’t know him. Not like that.

That hadn’t stopped me from hooking up in the past, in fact I preferred not knowing anything about the people I slept with. It was simpler that way. I didn’t want to give anyone more than a night, and I’d always been content with that. It wasn’t deep. That place in my heart I’d always kept reserved for some unknown thing remained untouched. Safe.

It didn’t feel so safe anymore.

Because that void inside me, well it seemed to be shaped an awful lot like him.

Pieces were rapidly falling into place, and I was just trying to keep up with them all. I still didn’t have the answer to my biggest question.

What happened to us?

I needed to think. Needed to process what had happened and what I wanted to come next.

Tusks tilted his head as he watched me, no doubt sensing my conflicting emotions.

I smiled. He smiled back, his tail swishing faster behind him.

“I’m gonna go get the rifle,” I told him. “Why don’t you find us something to eat?”

His head tilted again, his tail halting. Despite not being able to speak, it was actually really easy to understand him. His brow lowered.

“I’m not gonna run,” I huffed. We were far past that. “I just… need a moment to clear my head, okay?”

His ear twitched and eyes squinted as he seemed to be deciding whether he’d allow that or not.

“I’ll get the rifle and meet you back at the fire. And I’m pretty hungry, so you better find us something good. Okay?”

He stood taller, chest puffing out as he accepted his mission. But before he obeyed and left me to collect myself, he took a step forward, then another, closing the distance between us. His tail wound around my wrist as he pressed his forehead against mine softly.

Glowing red faded as his eyes closed, and a moment later mine followed.

He so easily calmed my inner beast. Tusks had a direct line to the core of me, and access to all my emotions. They all responded to him like I existed just to be in his orbit. More faithful to him than myself.

Moments ago, adrenaline had been coursing through my veins as he’d thrust me into the dirt, and now something as simple as his head against mine brought me more peace than anything I’d ever experienced before.

My heart ached when we parted, my body willing to submit everything to him, but my mind was still catching up.

His tail collected the rusted axe that had fallen to the ground during our activities. He pressed it firmly into my hand, ensuring that I was armed. Then he gave an approving nod.

I huffed, and gave him a last longing glance, where our eyes connected, sharing something more than words before I turned and retraced my steps, trying to remember the exact way I’d come.

He wasn’t following me. I couldn’t feel his eyes on me like I usually did.

It was strange, the way warmth spread through me at the knowledge he really trusted me not to run off, but it also felt like something was missing. I felt exposed without him. It weren’t that I was afraid. I did strongly believe I could handle anything I came across in these woods, besides him. But knowing he was somewhere else apart from me made that void inside me bigger than usual, maybe because I knew he was supposed to be there now.

It was all a lot to take in.

It weren’t like I could just choose to stay here with him forever, even if I accepted he was who I’d been waiting for. There was only so long I could tolerate being without electricity, plumbing, and an actual bed. But it wasn’t possible for him to come back into town with me either. Was it?
