Cocooned between them, surrounded by my mates, I realised I’d never felt so safe in my life.
Chapter 20
Elowen
Iwoke with Leon behind me, still inside me even though his knot had softened. Lucien slept in front of me, and Alaric and Caius lay on the other side of the nest. Darius was sitting against the cushions, pad in hand.
“A new light to you, sweet Omega.”
“And to you, handsome.” I groaned. “I need the bathroom.”
Leon held my stomach while he carefully pulled out of me, and even with his knot softened, I had to stop and catch my breath before I could move properly.
“Tender?” he asked.
“A little.” I looked back at him. “Worth it.”
I could feel how happy that made him, and I was still smiling as I climbed out of the nest and saw the blood.
There was dried blood across Alaric’s chest, more on Caius’s shoulder, and marks on Lucien’s neck and Leon’s hand. Even the sheets were stained. It was a proper bloody mess—pun intended—and once I noticed it, that was it. I couldn’t scent anything else. The cedar and winter air were still there, but underneath it all was blood, so strong I could almost taste it.
“The nest’s all wrong. I need to do it again.”
Alaric followed my gaze. “Would you like me to send for fresh nest supplies?”
“Do we have more?” I felt almost devastated, which was crazy, but I actually had to fight away tears.
“We have enough supplies for you to remake the nest every day if you wish, sweetheart,” Leon said. “I’ll ask Livia to bring more.”
That soothed me a little. “Then… I want one of everything. I can’t stand the scent of blood.” I looked around at the others. “And you all need to shower before you come back. No bloodstained clothes or blankets in the nest. Everything has to be clean.”
“Of course, my darling,” Lucien said. “Would you like our help?”
“No,” I said way too quickly. “I just need more things, and for all of you to be clean.” I looked at the blankets again. “Please go. I need a shower, and I need to sort this out before I have an anxiety attack.”
“Understood.”
They started to leave, but before Darius could follow them, I caught his wrist.
“You stay, handsome.”
His eyes darkened. “As you wish.”
The others left without making a fuss, which I was very grateful for, and I hurried into the bathroom.
After using the toilet, I got straight into the shower and stayed there until the water stopped running pink. By the time I came back out in a towel, Livia was at the bedroom doors with two women and enough baskets of linen to remake the nest several times over.
“A new light to you, Lady Stormforge.”
I couldn’t help smiling because I was Lady Stormforge now, wasn’t I?
“And to you. All of you.”
“This is Akria, and this is Eltze. They’re responsible for the cleaning.”
“It’s lovely to meet you.”
“And you, my lady,” they replied.
