“Can you seriously think otherwise?”

“I believe Elowen is right,” Eleanor said. “It’s a rather endearing interest.”

“Thank you!” I pointed at Eleanor.

Nora smiled. “Will you at least tell us which one you prefer?”

“Neither. I like my mates equally.”

Eleanor laughed softly. “Spoken like a good Omega.”

The pride in her eyes did something strange to my chest.

“Very well. Shall we see the next?” Ivy said.

Eleanor touched the pad, and Caius’s image gave way to another.

LUCIEN STORMFORGE

The room went quiet. He was so fair that I couldn’t help murmuring, “Snow White.” He looked like a male version of her.

“He is as white as snow,” Nora said.

Lucien was startlingly pale, like Alaric and Caius, with midnight-black hair swept neatly from his face and pale silver-blue eyes. He had sharp features: a straight nose, defined cheekbones and a strong jaw softened by a mouth that looked far too pretty on a man. He had no scars or threatening tilt to his chin, yet something in the way he stared straight ahead made me uneasy.

“Well?” Ivy prompted.

“I’m looking.”

“You’ve been studying him for some time.”

“I need more time.”

Nora laughed, but I ignored her and studied Lucien again. He wasn’t handsome in the same rugged way as the brothers. He was… beautiful.

“He’s very beautiful, but something about him is…” I tilted my head, trying to work it out. “I don’t know. He looks dangerous. Like, very dangerous.”

Eleanor looked rather pleased. “I believe that’s because he is a very dangerous Alpha.”

I slowly turned towards her. “What?”

Her smile deepened, and she touched the pad to bring up more information beside Lucien’s image.

LUCIEN STORMFORGE

AGE: 38

DESIGNATION: ALPHA

BIRTH PACK: FROSTMERE PACK

CAREER: DIRECTOR OF HIGH MOUNTAIN INTELLIGENCE · CHANCELLOR OF HOUSE VAELOR

I barely made it past the first few lines before his career stopped me. CIA? Of all the men I could’ve ended up lying to, it had to be the one who ran the spies?

“He runs espionage?” Eleanor looked slightly surprised, and I hurried on. “Unless intelligence means something else?”

“That’s a fair description.”
