“Oh! And you better prepare yourselves for a pink explosion.”
Alaric’s brow furrowed. “What precisely does that mean?”
“That means we’re having girls!” I waited for a reaction, looking from one face to the next. “Two baby girls!”
“My heart.” Alaric’s voice was softer now, his eyes full of tenderness. “Are you certain that you and both children are well?”
“Yes. Thaddeus said everything he can see is reassuring. We even heard their heartbeats.” My throat tightened at the memory. “I wish you could have heard them too. It was beautiful.”
Caius straightened. “You will not attend another examination without us.”
I laughed. “I would love for all of you to be there for the next ones, but I don’t know if you will have the time. I have a feeling there will be many.”
“We shall make time,” Alaric said, and something warm finally reached me through the bond.
“I will be with you for every single one, my darling,” Lucien said.
“No matter what,” Caius added. “Wherever I am required to be before or afterwards, I shall be there.”
“All of us will,” Alaric said. “You will not undertake this journey without your Pack, my heart.”
Leon reached for one of my hands, and Darius closed his around the other.
“Oh! I almost forgot…” I grinned. “Thaddeus says they’re both Omegas.”
Darius collapsed so suddenly that his hand slipped from mine. One second he was sitting beside me, and the next he pitched forward off the sofa and landed face down on the floor.
“Darius!” I dropped to my knees beside him and reached for his arm.
“Darius,” Leon said carefully.
In the hologram, Caius looked like he might be sick, and Lucien didn’t look much better.
“Darius?”
He lifted his head. “I am fine.”
“Did you just faint?”
“No.”
“You fell off the sofa onto your face.”
His expression tightened. “I am aware.” He took my hand and got us both back onto the sofa. “Both of them?” His voice sounded rough. “Both of our daughters are Omegas?”
“Yes. Two little Omegas.”
“Elowen…” Lucien dragged a hand over his face. “My darling. You honour me. You honour all of us. I had hoped…” He stopped before trying again. “I had allowed myself to hope that our Pack might one day have a child. To be given two daughters…” His eyes dropped to the picture. “Two Omegas.” He let out a breath. “I have not felt such emotion in all my years.”
My smile wobbled as I looked at them. “Does that mean you’re happy, then? I know it’s very soon—”
“My heart,” Alaric interrupted. I turned towards him. “Happy cannot encompass the depth of my emotion.”
“Sweetheart.” Leon cupped my cheek, gently turning my face towards his. “Did you believe we might not be happy?”
“I don’t know what I thought.” I looked down at my hands. “So much has happened in the past few months. I suppose I should’ve known better. Planned better.”
“Elowen.” I looked towards Alaric as he continued. “You were surviving. You had scarcely been given time to understand your new life, my heart. How could you possibly have planned what came next?”
