I shake my head.

“A prince.”

Grimm takes my hand and brings my fingers to his lips.

“A Wolf Prince. Your Wolf Prince.”

Oh, hell. Because apparently regular dating was never going to be an option for me.

“And I passed some magical fidelity test I didn't know I was taking?”

His expression twists.

“I hate putting it that way.”

“But...”

“Essentially.”

“Well, thank Goddess Coach Williams makes my skin crawl.”

Grimm growls.

Actually growls.

I point at him.

“Stop growling at me.”

“Then stop talking about other men.”

I reach out before I think better of it. My fingertips touch his cheek. Grimm immediately turns into my palm.

Exactly like my Wolf used to do. My breath catches.

“I don’t want other men,” I confess in a whisper, and his eyes close.

And that's it. That's what breaks me.

Not the prince.

Not the curse.

Not even the mate thing.

That tiny familiar movement. It's him. It really was always him.

“You were my friend.”

His eyes open.

“I wanted to be more.”

“I didn't know that.”

“I know.”

“Well, you're my second-best friend.”
