“So let me take you home.”
I raised an eyebrow.
“Home?”
“Or out.”
“Which one?”
“Both.”
I laughed.
“This Texas or something? You trying to court me now?”
“If that’s what it take.”
Destiny made a noise behind me.
“Ooooh.”
“Shut up.”
Carlos smiled.
“I’m serious.”
I looked at him.
Really looked at him.
I’d spent almost three years unavailable to everybody without technically being anybody’s woman.
That was the fucked-up part.
Men had tried.
Carlos definitely had.
And every time, I curved them because I was waiting on Xay.
Waiting on a married man to finally pick me.
I wasn’t waiting anymore.
I smiled.
“Let me go get my bag and I’ll meet you outside.”
Carlos’s eyebrows went up.
“For real?”
“Before I change my mind.”
He pushed off the wall.
“Aight. I’ll pull the G-Wagon up.”
