I texted Heather back.

On the way bitch.

I should’ve took my ass home.

45 Minutes later, Keith had dropped us off to Heather.

“Girl, come in. Lasagna cooling.”

I pushed Heather’s front door closed behind me with my foot while balancing Carter on my hip and her diaper bag on my shoulder.

“I hope you made enough because Keith talking like half the pan belong to him.”

We laughed, dropping Carter’s bag near the couch.

Collin was in his little seat near the living room, wide awake, kicking his legs.

“Heyyyy, handsome.”

I carried Carter over.

“Look, Carter. That’s your little cousin.”

“You want something to drink?” Heather called from the kitchen.

“Water.”

“Boring ass.”

Then Carter started reaching toward Collin, and thankfully Heather looked at them.

“Look at them.”

“Right.”

I turned away before my face could tell on me.

Heather didn’t know I was pregnant yet.

Nobody knew besides Keith, Dr. Loud and me.

And Xay damn sure didn’t know.

I walked toward the kitchen, but something tossed across the back of one of Heather’s dining chairs caught my attention.

A dark work hoodie.

I would’ve kept walking.

Except I knew that hoodie.

I had pulled that hoodie off Xay before.

More than once.

My eyes dropped to the little table near the wall.

A watch.
