My fucking mouth tasted like blood.
Levin stood over me adjusting his coat like he hadn’t just beat my ass in front of half my job.
Then he looked around at everybody.
“It’s all good.”
Nobody said shit.
Levin smiled.
“Just a little brotherly love.”
His eyes came back down to me.
“Ain’t that right, Xavier?”
I grunted and pushed myself onto one elbow.
This nigga kicked me in my stomach.
“AINT THAT FUCKING RIGHT?”
“Yeah, nigga! Damn!”
He stared down at me.
And for half a second, something about the way he was looking at me felt…
Different.
Not about money.
Something else.
Then it was gone.
Levin slid his shades back onto his face.
“Get the rest of my fucking money, nigga.”
He turned and walked away.
Tyler stared at me for a second.
He ain’t laugh.
Ain’t say shit.
That was weird too.
Then he tucked the gun back underneath his jacket and followed Levin toward the Bentley.
I sat there on the fucking concrete watching them leave.
My jaw throbbing.
Lip bleeding.
