“Savy?” He takes away his touch and puts the lid on the salve.
“Yes.” I smile slightly.
“I’ve heard about you,” he says, and waves his hand through the air.
The books stop moving.
“I was just talking to Lace about you,” I reply.
“Hmm…” He tilts his head. “I can’t stop the wind, Wild One.” His lips twitch.
I think I’m going to pass out.
“I don’t know if I can right now,” I admit, shifting while tingles race over my body.
The appearance of my soul bond energizes my magic. It’s either reaching out to connect to his or showing off. I usually have iron control over my spells. I’m a little surprised I’ve been able to hold so many objects in the air for so long.
“Well, can you try?” Lace asks.
“You can do it,” Archer says softly, circling my wrist.
The air moves faster. “That’s not helping,” I mutter, looking at his hand.
“Close your eyes,” he instructs, and I obey. “Concentrate on my voice.”
I like his voice. It’s low and rumbly.
“Thank you,” he says.
“Shit. I said that out loud,” I groan.
“Yeah,” he chuckles, and I grin. “Pull the wind back.”
Come back. I push my intention through my spells. It’s not the words I use, but it helps guide my magic.
“It’s interesting witnessing another bond,” Rome says, and I open one eye.
It worked. I feel the room settling.
“What about the books?” Lace asks, grasping one. “It won’t move.”
“Step back,” Archer tells her. “Savy, control it.”
I open my other eye and take a deep breath. “Okay.”
Down. Gently.
The books float to the floor.
“Good job,” he says, smiling gently.
“Thanks.” I grin, gazing dreamily at him.
“Brother, are you glad you came?” Rome asks.
“Very.” His focus bounces over my face and hair.
“Are you alright?” Lace asks.
