“Granny.” Aria moves toward her. “Who?”

I drag my focus away from Archer. Granny looks panicked.

“Betty and Travis,” she replies.

“What happened?” I shake my head and step back.

“I went back home, and they were still sleeping,” she says, rushing to the counter. “I decided to slip out to get some food. I came back, and they were gone. I searched the area and didn’t find them. I did a location spell, and something or someone blocked me.” She presses her hand to her throat. “That’s never happened.”

“What’s going on?” Mara asks, coming into the room.

Mateo and Lace follow behind her.

“Their parents disappeared,” Rome explains, and Mara moves toward him.

“Where would they go?” Aria asks.

“I…I don’t know,” Granny says.

“He must have got to them,” Archer says.

“Why go to them?” Lace asks, leaning against the door. “He wants Savy. Why does he need them?”

“All good questions,” Mateo mumbles.

“He shouldn’t be able to block me,” Granny whispers.

“We need to do a spell,” Archer states, looking at Rome.

“I’m ready,” Rome replies.

“Archer,” I say, frowning.

“Baby, we need to know.” He circles my waist. “I’ll be fine.”

“I won’t leave,” I say firmly. “I don’t care if he senses me. We're a team.”

“I agree.” He releases me. “But I'll protect you before we start.” Looking around the room, he settles his focus on Lace. “Can we use your room?”

“Yes, I don’t have any more clients,” she says.

“Lock the door,” he tells Mara, and she nods, moving quickly.

“What spell?” Granny asks, frowning. “Why would Archer do one with Rome?”

“I already did one,” I sigh, and her eyes widen. “I saw Griffon, but couldn’t get a lock on his location.”

“Wait.” She steps forward. “You saw him?”

“Granny, it doesn’t matter,” Aria says, moving toward her. “Aren’t you going to greet your other granddaughter?”

“But—” She shakes her head. “Of course, love,” she says softly, and opens her arms.

“Missed you,” Aria says, moving close and hugging her.

Archer grabs my hand and walks toward the back room.

“Mara and Savy will be the only ones in the room with us,” he commands, and looks at Aria as she steps back from Granny. “Protect Lace.”
