I grab the nearest thing I can reach—Thomas’s empty wooden chair—and slam it against the intruder’s arm.
The knife falls.
Ben drives the man facedown onto the floor and pins his arm behind his back.
“Don’t move.”
The intruder fights until Ben presses a knee between his shoulders.
Keating and two officers rush through the waterfront entrance.
They handcuff the man and pull a radio from his jacket.
“Where’s the second intruder?” Ben asks.
“We haven’t found him.”
Storm’s voice echoes from the hallway.
“Calle!”
“I’m here!”
She runs into the room with Nathan behind her.
“Where’s Ward?”
No one answers.
Storm turns to Keating. “Where is he?”
A gunshot cracks from outside.
Storm runs toward the waterfront exit.
Nathan catches her around the waist.
“Let me go!”
“Not until they clear it.”
“That’s Ward!”
Keating motions to one of his officers. “Stay with the prisoner.”
He and the second officer move outside.
Ben looks at me. “Are you hurt?”
“My shoulder.”
He runs his hands carefully along my arm.
“Can you move it?”
I lift it.
Pain burns through the joint, but nothing feels broken.
