“Command, report.”
Static answers him.
He tries again.
Nothing.
Ben draws his weapon.
“The radios are being jammed.”
“Or the building lost its repeater,” Keating says.
A Coast Guard officer opens the door and looks into the hall.
A gunshot cracks outside.
The officer jerks back.
“Shots fired near the waterfront entrance!”
Keating points toward Mom, Nathan and Thomas. “Storage room. Now.”
Ward gets Storm to her feet.
Ben takes my arm, but I resist when he tries to send me with them.
“I’m staying with you.”
“No.”
“I know this building as well as you do.”
“We’ve been here less than two hours.”
“Exactly.”
Even in the red light, I see his frustration.
“This isn’t the time to argue, Calle.”
“Then stop arguing.”
Another shot rings out.
Glass shatters somewhere down the hallway.
Keating steps between us. “Both of you move. We need this room cleared.”
Ben’s jaw tightens.
He doesn’t like it, but Keating is in command.
Ward leads Storm toward the storage room. Nathan follows with Mom and Thomas.
I move behind Ben.
As we reach the doorway, an officer runs toward us from the rear hall.
