“Things that seemed unusual,” Ben says. “Or stopped working. Something you kept because it came from him, even if it had no practical value.”

For several seconds, all I hear is my sister's breathing.

Then Hazel gasps.

“The music box.”

“What music box?” I ask.

“The one Grandpa gave me when I graduated from high school. It played for about a week and then stopped.”

“Where is it?” Keating asks.

“My apartment.”

Keating immediately signals to an officer. “Contact the deputies securing Hazel’s apartment. No one touches anything until the evidence team arrives.”

“I have something too,” Willow says.

My heart beats faster. “What?”

“A silver pocket watch. Grandpa said it belonged to his father, but it never kept time.”

“Where is it?” Ward asks.

“At home in San Francisco. It’s in the bottom drawer of my desk.”

Keating gives another order.

Storm folds her arms. “I don’t have anything that stopped working.”

“What was the last birthday gift Grandpa gave you?” I ask.

“A sextant.”

Thomas lifts his head.

Storm notices. “What?”

“James’s sextant disappeared after he died.”

“He gave it to me.”

“Where is it?”

Storm glances toward Ward. “Aboard Sea Whisper.”

Keating swears beneath his breath and reaches for his phone again.

“Where aboard the yacht?” Ward asks.

“In a locked drawer beneath the chart table.”

The officer standing near the door touches the radio at his shoulder. “I’ll have the boarding team check.”

Keating nods.

“That leaves Ivy,” Ben says.
