He had been near Blackwater.
Ben stood.
“What did the entry team find?”
“The eastern tunnel is empty.”
My relief didn’t last.
Keating placed a clear evidence bag on the table.
Inside was a folded piece of paper.
“We found a concealed sleeping area approximately sixty yards beyond the fence. Whoever stayed there had food, water, a radio, and two of the missing fuel containers.”
“When did he leave?” Morales asked.
“The medical officer estimates sometime within the last twelve hours.”
“He cut the cable and escaped through the eastern tunnel,” Ben said.
“Yes.”
“Did you find the generator?”
“No.”
“What was on the paper?” I asked.
Keating looked at me.
“A list.”
He unfolded it without removing it from the evidence bag.
Seven names had been written across the page.
Storm.
Willow.
Ivy.
Calle.
Hazel.
Elanore.
Thomas.
My entire family.
Beside each name was a location.
The beach house.
Sea Whisper.
