The Coast Guard response boat waits outside it. Rescue swimmers enter the water and guide Robert through the opening.
Mark hands Lily to one of them.
She refuses to release his neck.
“My grandfather!”
“He’s behind you.”
“And Ben?”
“We’re bringing him.”
Scott and Piers help Ben toward the breach.
The ship strikes the rocks again.
This time, the impact tears open the deck above them.
A section of ceiling falls between Ben and the others.
Piers dives forward.
Scott disappears behind a wall of water.
“Ben!” I scream.
His body camera spins beneath the surface.
Darkness.
Bubbles.
Metal.
Then his head breaks above the water.
He grabs the edge of the damaged hull with one hand.
Piers surfaces beside him.
“Scott?”
No answer.
“Scott!”
Mark climbs back through the breach.
A hand rises from the water behind the fallen ceiling.
John reaches it first.
Together, he and Mark pull Scott free.
Blood pours from Scott’s nose, but he is conscious.
“I’m fine,” he says.
