“I breathe regularly.”

“Not like that.”

Despite everything, a small laugh escapes me.

Storm glares at both of us.

Ben motions for his team to follow him into the adjoining room.

I go with them.

He stops at the doorway.

“Calle.”

“I’m not asking to go.”

His shoulders lower slightly.

“I was going to tell you where I’ll be.”

“Oh.”

Scott covers a smile by rubbing his hand across his mouth.

Ben ignores him.

“We’ll watch the ferry warehouse from the building across the street. If the van is there, we wait until Simon’s people move toward the water.”

“You think they’ll leave Elliot and Peter behind?”

“If they’re still alive.”

The unspoken possibility strikes me.

Ben takes my hand.

“We’ll find them.”

“You don’t know that.”

“No. But I know Simon made his first mistake.”

“What mistake?”

“He showed us he needs the film more than he needs the people working for him.”

I look toward the other SEALs.

There is something different about all five men now.

They aren’t simply strong men carrying weapons.

They move with a shared purpose. Scott and Mark study the building plans while John locates possible lookout positions. Piers compares the shoreline with the warehouse entrances.

They don’t need to explain every decision to one another.

They have done this before.
