“And a thing of puffs,” Tobias added. “We shared some yesterday and went through the entire can.”
“Shared?” I asked, raising my brows.
“We took turns feeding each other. They’re not bad. A little bland.”
All I could do was laugh, and then Marshall appeared again, dressed now and walking right up to me like a man on a mission.
“There’s a car in the garage for you,” Marshall said, placing the keys on the counter as I fed Milo his baby mush.
“I don’t need a car!” I insisted.
“I already installed Milo’s car seat,” Marshall said, totally ignoring my words.
I glanced at Tobias for support, but he simply shrugged, so I handed him the jar of baby mush and got up.
Tobias thankfully took it in stride and took over feeding Milo for me without a word.
“I appreciate you getting me the car, but I honestly don’t need it!”
“Well, it’s there if you do need it.” Marshall shrugged.
I wasn’t going to win this. It was way too late for him to put brakes on, and I knew he wasn’t about to return the car to whoever he got it from.
“Look, it’s not that I’m not grateful, but…Marshall, it’s so much. I feel guilty. You’re all spending all this money on me and the baby, and—”
“Need I remind you that we want to do that? Not only is this part of the arrangement, you guys do need these things, and I like being able to provide them for you. When you want to walk to town, walk. But this way, you have a car if you need to go farther than expected or if it’s raining or snowing. Hell, you’ll have it if you’re just running late or feeling lazy. It’s a done deal.”
“You—”
Marshall lunged forward, wrapping an arm around my waist, the other hand coming to cup my face as his lips descended on mine. Strong, demanding, and freaking delicious.
Despite my anger, I melted into his touch.
“You are our omega, and we will be taking care of you and Milo whether you like it or not.” His words were firm, leaving no room for disagreement.
I was pretty sure he’d kissed the thoughts out of my head. I just sat there blinking several times as he walked off with a shit-eating grin.
Not that I had enough thoughts to string together to form a response after that kiss.
“Ummm…okay, then. I guess…I’ll take the car today.”
“So you’re telling us that the way to make you agree to anything is to just kiss you?” Noah chuckled and took a sip of his coffee. “Noted.”
Chapter 22
Summer
Milo was inconsolable.
Even though I had offered him his teething ring several times, he kept taking it and throwing it on the ground. His face was red and blotchy. It pained me to see him so upset. I had given him the medication that Tobias had gotten me, but for some reason, it just wasn’t working as well as usual.
Our morning had been going so well… until it hadn’t. One thing I had learned about babies over the last few months was that their health and their attitude could change so fast.
“Come on, sweet boy. What do you want?” I bobbed him up and down and kissed the top of his head. His little fist tangled in my hair, tugging painfully, but I didn’t stop him.
All of the guys were at work. I didn’t want to disturb them, but I was tempted to call Tobias and ask his opinion, because the numbing gel he’d gotten me had worked wonders until recently.
I didn’t want to be a bother, though. I had been invading their lives for almost two weeks now, and they needed to get back to their regular routines. Their jobs were important, and I couldn’t just derail their days for what might simply be a baby having a very fussy day.
