We both bit down, and the moment I did, he did, and it was like I’d been struck by lightning. My head buzzed, blood rushing through me. I could sense him, the closeness, the beating of his heart, and it was so incredibly obvious that we were locked together now, his teeth clamping down on my wrist just enough.
Pulling away after who knew how long, I looked up into his eyes, a little dizzy. “Well, shit.”
Chapter 10
Noah
Watching Emmett bite Summer on the wrist shouldn’t have been as sexual as it was—it was just a wrist bite. It’d been simple and straightforward, something chosen precisely because it wasn’t so sexual.
Then again, it was that bite that bonded her to us—and hot fucking damn.
A small part of me was jealous that Emmett was the one who got to do it, but even more so, I was confused why Marshall hadn’t been the one. He was our pack leader, after all, so I had been rather confused, but I wasn’t going to question it at that point.
When Emmett and Summer had pulled back from one another, there was no missing the hungry way they looked at each other; there was need in their gazes that was impossible to ignore. It was infectious and stirred something in me just from witnessing it.
“So… I guess we go home now?” Emmett asked with a grin, making him and Summer descend into laughter.
“Well done!” Emma clapped her hands like we were toddlers who had behaved well, and I had to admit that, even with teacher energy, she was starting to be a bit much. “And yes, now you guys get to settle in together. I’ve already taken the liberty of having Summer’s things brought over from her B&B, so you guys are good to go.”
Summer’s eyes widened. “You…you did?”
As she spoke, she reached out and took her son back, absentmindedly kissing the top of his head.
Tobias frowned. “You could have at least allowed her to pack her own things.”
Omegas were particular about their spaces, their things, not to mention the fact that there were baby things involved. Having someone gather their belongings would no doubt be stressful.
“This way was much quicker,” Emma said brightly, waving off the concern.
I didn’t like that one bit. It was obvious by her furrowed brow and worried biting of her lip that Summer wasn’t okay with it, either. And as much as I appreciated Emma’s work and what she had done for us, this was another moment of crossing a boundary that was adding up. And I was sure the others felt the same.
“We’ll make sure that you can unpack and set everything up the way you want once we get to the house. Is that okay?” I raised my brows at her, and Summer smiled with relief, nodding.
“Yes, thank you.” She shuffled Milo on her hip. “Babies come with a lot of stuff, too, so…”
“Absolutely no worries. That’s to be expected.” Emmett grinned, gesturing for the door. “After you, Mama.”
Emma started to speak, but I held up a hand. “We’ve got it from here. If you need anything, please reach out through the company.”
She blanched slightly but didn’t respond. I knew how to handle overeager types. She reminded me of some of the students in my class. And I just politely smiled but remained firm, then walked with Emmett and Summer to the cars.
Once we were outside, Emmett stopped in front of our car and pulled open the rear passenger door.
“As there are so many of us, you can ride with Noah and me,” Emmett explained. “Then we have room for you and the little man's car seat. How does that sound?”
“I… I actually don’t have a car seat for Milo,” Summer admitted in a small voice, clutching her son tighter.
“How did you get here?” I asked, cocking my head.
“Well, on the bus, I just held him on my lap. I wanted to try and find a good car seat, or a secondhand one, but everything happened so quickly…”
Emmett nodded, pulling out his phone.
Summer shot him a confused, startled look. “What are you doing?”
“Just calling Marshall and Tobias,” he explained. “Hey, guys! We’re going to take a detour. The little man needs a car seat. Yeah, that’ll probably be the best place. See you there.” Emmet grinned as he hung up, turning to look between Summer and me. “We’re going to the baby store nearby.”
“Oh, you don’t—” Summer rushed to say, but Emmett held up his hand.
