And utterly perfect.

The dim light frustrated me when I wanted every plane and hollow of his body illuminated. I compromised by opening the curtains and bathing him in moonlight. The pale glow emphasized his lean, muscular frame as he wrapped a hand around his cock and began to stroke.

I climbed onto the bed and pushed his thighs apart, settling between them. Then I began a leisurely exploration, mapping every inch of his skin from the curve of his shoulders to his dusky pink nipples. I lingered there, fascinated by the way they hardened beneath my touch and the soft moans Rowan made when I rolled them between finger and thumb.

“Jesus, Doc,” he said when I finally moved lower. “Didn’t they let you touch anyone at medical school?”

Doc? Medical school?

I’d almost forgotten that he believed I was Dr. Logan Collins.

“What?”

“You’re giving me a full medical examination.”

“Is that bad?”

“No. I’m just not used to this much foreplay. It’s usually a bit more wham, bam, thank you ma’am.”

I had no idea what that expression meant. “You’re not enjoying it?”

“Yeah, of course I am.” Rowan propped himself up on his elbows and glanced meaningfully at his erect cock. “Obviously. It’s just… slow.” He turned his head toward the door. “Aren’t you worried someone might catch us?”

“No,” I answered honestly. Why should I care if the doctor got caught? The consequences would be his, not mine.

Rowan’s frown had me searching for something less indifferent to say. Pretending to be human was difficult. Every answer required consideration when all I wanted was to lose myself in him.

“Everyone else is asleep,” I said. “We’re the only two awake in this building.”

“You don’t know that.”

Actually, I did. But I needed to remember that the doctor wouldn’t. “No one is usually awake at this time. Just me.”

Rowan gave a jerky nod, his chest already flushed. I trailed the doctor’s fingers over it, curious whether it felt as warm as it looked.

It did.

He had so many interesting curves and hollows, yet so far I’d explored only his chest. Even more fascinating were the goosebumps that arose in the wake of my touch. Were they caused by cold or arousal? I doubted the doctor would ask, so I didn’t either.

My study of Rowan’s legs was quicker, but no less thorough, and he laughed softly as my hands traveled over them.

I wanted to save his cock for last. I’d seen humans do something similar with food, eating everything else before finally consuming their favorite part. The habit had never made sense to me.

Until now.

Grasping his hip, I flipped him over.

“Jesus,” Rowan said, his voice muffled when his face hit the pillow. “You’re stronger than you look, Doc. Be gentle with me.”

The amusement in his voice suggested he didn’t mean it, which was interesting. Humans often said one thing while meaning another. They were a contrary species.

They also apologized frequently, so I tried it for myself. “Sorry.”

Rowan struggled free from the confines of the pillow. “It’s fine.”

“Then why say it wasn’t.”

He frowned. “I―”
