One of these days, he was going to figure it out.
I hoped it happened sooner rather than later.
This situation had gone on for years now.
There hadn’t been anyone else for either one of them.
“It looks like Jenna is done shopping,” I observed as my woman headed toward me with a shopping bag in her hand.
Her eyes had searched for me, and once she found me, a large smile had spread over her beautiful face.
I ran a hand over my chest as I grinned back at her.
This woman.
I felt like I was ten feet tall because of the adoration in her eyes.
“Later,” Nate said as he lifted a hand. “I’m going to take Sara a cider.”
I picked one off the table for Jenna and handed it to her as she stopped in front of me.
“Thanks,” she said gratefully. “Did you want to go eat?”
We were planning on hitting a local Mexican food restaurant before we went home.
“Are you done here?” I asked as I watched her sip her cider.
She nodded. “Yes. I can’t buy too much. I’m flying.”
I wanted to tell her that she could leave anything she wanted at my place.
It was going to be home to her, too.
But I forced myself not to jump to conclusions.
For now, I had what I wanted. Jenna had committed to an exclusive relationship.
So, I simply reached into my pocket and took out a gift for her.
“We’ll go,” I told her. “But I want to give you this first.”
The jewelry store had needed to order the piece and it had just arrived. I’d picked it up while she was shopping.
I opened the box and showed her the pendant necklace that was nestled in a bed of velvet.
She gasped. “It’s beautiful,” she told me as she put a finger on the delicate pendant on a white gold chain. “Meteorite?”
“Yeah,” I confirmed. The round pendant surrounded in diamonds had a small meteorite stone mounted in the middle.
It was pretty and feminine, which had drawn me to the necklace.
Tears spilled to her cheeks as she looked up at me.
Fuck! I hated it when she cried.
“I love it,” she said in a tremulous voice. “It’s the nicest gift I’ve ever gotten. I really haven’t received many gifts in my life.”
What in the fuck was wrong with the other man in her life? The guy she’d dated for months.
