Jenna and I hadn’t gotten out of bed early, but we’d spent much of the night fucking each other until we couldn’t move.
By morning, she’d forgotten all about her scars and her nervousness about being naked with me.
Eventually, she’d truly internalize the fact that I loved her body and that I didn’t see her scars as anything other than a symbol of her strength.
Yeah, I hated every bit of pain she’d been through when she’d gotten those scars, but I was going to do everything I could to replace those old hurts with nothing but pleasure.
That didn’t mean that I didn’t understand her desire to make those marks as unnoticeable as possible.
I’d completely support anything she wanted to do to minimize those scars.
For her, they were reminders of a past she wanted to forget.
“You’ll end up in California next month,” Nate said drily.
I didn’t argue.
I already knew he was probably right.
I was already planning my visits to her place in California.
“There’s going to be times when I’m not going to be available for Last Hope,” I warned Nate.
Last Hope would always be a priority in my life, but not as important as Jenna.
Nate shrugged. “We all have a life. It’s not like we haven’t run a three-man or two-man teams.”
“Jenna will come first,” I informed him. “I’ll do as many missions as I can, but I’ll be spending time in California as long as she’s there.”
“I get it,” Nate said drily. “You want a life. I can’t say that I blame you. Look, I know Last Hope will still be a priority for you, and I don’t blame you for putting your woman first. Besides, I think she’ll end up here someday. She belongs here. Don’t ask me how I know that, but I think she fits in better here than there. She has a family here now.”
Hell, he didn’t have to sell me on Jenna moving here.
“That’s the dream,” I told Nate distractedly as I watched Jenna laugh with Sara.
If that wasn’t what Jenna wanted in the future, I’d definitely end up moving to Southern California.
I loved my life here in Michigan.
I’d found the peace I’d craved here after my years in the army.
I hated the big city.
But I’d hate being away from Jenna more.
We would do this long-distance thing for a while. I’d give her time and hope she’d come to the same conclusion that I already knew was true.
Being apart was going to suck.
The problem was that I didn’t want to push her.
We hadn’t known each other long, and she’d already given me her commitment to the relationship.
I was afraid if I moved as fast as I wanted to that she’d balk.
I couldn’t have that.
She probably needed some time.
