I’d spent my entire life alone.
Nope!
I definitely wasn’t ready to admit that I might need Brock right now just a little bit, too.
Chapter 6
Brock
Ihadn’t uttered one word in argument when Jenna had told me that she wanted to come back to Michigan with me.
I should have said No.
Absolutely not.
Not happening.
If it had been any other woman, I would have turned her down flat.
But not Jenna.
For some damn reason, I didn’t want to let her out of my sight.
I’d been intrigued with her from the moment I’d read her bio and seen her photos, and my curiosity about her hadn’t faded one damn bit.
I’d thought I could get her out of my head once I knew she was safe, but that hadn’t happened.
If she wanted to help me out, I was more than willing to let her stay with me so I could figure out why I felt the compulsion to find out everything I could about this woman.
No fuss.
No complaints.
No arguments from me about her coming with me to Cherry Cove.
Marshall had told me that Jenna had refused a Last Hope advisor and psychological counseling.
She wasn’t healed from her injuries, both physical and mental, and I felt like she needed a quiet place to heal.
I could give her that.
If she needed a reason to come to Michigan with me, so be it.
I wasn’t really going to let her help me much.
I could have gotten all the assistance I needed from my team, and I could function with one arm for a while.
Yeah, my injury hurt like a bitch, but I’d had more painful injuries during my career in Delta.
The uncomplicated wound would heal quickly, and the pain would dull. It was already much better than it had been right after the surgery.
It was inconvenient that I’d lost the use of my right arm for a short time, but that stunned nerve would liven up soon enough. The numbness was temporary until the trauma to the nerve had a little time to heal.
Quite honestly, I was lucky. I hadn’t permanently damaged any nerves or major blood vessels.
I’d heal up in a few weeks and my arm would return to normal little by little as the shock to the nerve wore off.
I turned my head to look at Jenna as she lounged on the couch across from mine.
