We’d talked about marriage in hypothetical terms.

But I’d had no idea that he was planning to pop the question soon.

Elation rose up inside my being as his eyes locked with mine.

I sighed because I could see my future in his gorgeous, whiskey-colored eyes.

“Marry. Me,” he said hoarsely as he opened the box.

I shot him a huge smile. “Was that a question?”

“No,” he rumbled. “If you say no, I’ll probably lose my shit. Just fucking marry me, Jenna. It’s been killing me not to ask you before this solarium was done. I also didn’t want to jump the gun. But my patience is gone.”

My eyes dropped to the breathtaking ring he was holding. The center stone was enormous, and the beautiful diamond was in a halo setting with smaller stones.

“Yes,” I said teasingly. “Even though it wasn’t a question, I’m still saying yes.”

Brock took my left hand and slid the ring onto my ring finger. “Thank fuck!” he said as he kissed the ring on my finger.

I took his face in my hands and kissed him.

It started as an affectionate embrace from me, but Brock put a hand on my nape and deepened the kiss.

My body came alive immediately.

Brock could do that to me in a matter of moments.

I savored the sultry slide of our tongues and the temptation of his persuasive mouth on mine.

I loved this man so much.

I still couldn’t quite believe he was mine.

I’d spent my entire life without anyone of my own or a family.

Now, I had everything.

Maybe I’d have to work not to take that for granted someday in the distant future, but I doubted it.

I’d probably never quite forget what life was like before I’d met Brock.

“I love you,” I whispered when he released my mouth and started to ghost his mouth over the sensitive skin of my neck. “Question one hundred?”

It was time for me to ask my very last question that I’d been saving for a very long time.

Brock stilled. “You’ve saved this one for a year. It has to be important.”

“We’re getting married,” I explained. “Do you want to have a child someday?”

Maybe we should have discussed that subject before now, but it had never come up.

He pulled back and captured my gaze. “It’s not really something I’ve thought about. I never expected to get married before I met you. I’m definitely not opposed, but the only thing I really need is you. It’s something we’d have to decide together. How do you feel?”

“I’m not sure,” I admitted. “That’s why I wanted to talk about it. Sometimes I think I’d really love to have our child, but it’s never been on my radar before. I thought I’d be alone for the rest of my life. I’m not really sure what kind of mother I’d be. I didn’t have a good example growing up.”

“You’d be an incredible mother if that’s what you decide,” Brock said before he kissed me on the forehead. “You have so much love to give anyone you care about. We have time to make a decision. I’ll be happy either way, Stargazer.”

I sighed.
