He was still half hard when we got to my bedroom. I’d dropped to my knees and sucked him back to complete erectness, then he’d leaned me over the bed and fucked me from behind until I’d screamed loud enough that my neighbor banged on the wall.

The sex between us was always explosive, but these quiet moments when we were just snuggling and enjoying each other’s company were just as good.

“I missed you,” I admitted.

Normally Robbie was the more demonstrative one in our relationship, but my words were true. I both loved and hated how strong my feelings were for him. Not that we’d ever really talked about it before. My fault, not his.

Robbie grabbed my hand in one of his, turning us to our sides so we could face each other.

“I missed you too, baby. I, uh, I have to tell you something. Don’t freak out.”

I pulled back to study his face, completely at a loss. He looked nervous, just like the first time he asked me out.

“What’s the matter?”

He shook his head. “Nothing’s the matter it’s just that...well, I love you.”

My eyes widened. “You love me?”

He nodded, studying me carefully. “You don’t have to say it back or anything. I just wanted you to know where I stood.”

“What if I want to?”

“Want to what?”

“Say it back.”

He looked adorably confused, then a hopeful look spread across his handsome face.

“Are you saying you love me too?”

“I am.”

We stared at each other for a long moment. “Can you do it, then?”

“Do what?”

“Say it? I kind of need to hear the words, Violet.”

I leaned closer. “I love you, Robbie.”

“Thank God.”

Robbie

I arrived for my second appointment with Violet ten minutes early, feeling unaccountably nervous. It had been three days since I’d seen her, and I’d done nothing but obsess about her since then.

As uncomfortable and awkward as that first meeting was, I was glad we’d had a chance to clear the air a bit. I saw her considering the idea that maybe I hadn’t cheated on her. Even all these years later I was hurt by the way she had jumped to conclusions and was never willing to hear me out.

Although now that I knew more about what happened with the girl in my bed, I could definitely understand why she did. I’d always assumed that she’d seen the girl sleeping in my bed and decided I’d cheated on her. I didn’t know that there had been a conversation. Had no idea the length to which the girl went to try to get what she wanted. Violet’s response certainly made more sense now.

I was hoping that we could both move past our anger now.

“Mr. Mason?” Another young woman called my name. I wondered how many people Violet had working here. The clinic was bustling with activity. “Follow me please.”

I went into the same treatment room as we’d been in the other day. I was wearing loose shorts this time, so I didn’t need to change, and the young woman started by taking my vitals and asking me questions about the exercises that Violet had sent.

A few minutes later Violet walked in, looking like every dream I’d ever had. She was wearing khaki pants and a dark green polo emblazoned with her clinic’s name. It was a boring professional outfit, but that didn’t stop me from checking out her curves.
