“I had to keep her busy when Sofia went down for her nap. Had to find a way to distract her.”

The smirk on his stupid face made it clear what he meant when he said he’d distracted her.

“Maybe I’m not in a sharing mood today,” I told David grumpily as I imagined all the ways he might have distracted my little sister.

I slid a dollar into the machine and pressed button seventeen, stooping to grab my KitKat when it fell down the chute. When I plopped into a chair, I wasn’t surprised that David followed me, sitting across from me and staring at me until I finally broke.

“Nothing happened,” I said, putting the poor guy out of his misery. “We worked on a process flow chart thing, I grilled some burgers for dinner, and then she headed home. Haven’t seen her since.”

I didn’t mention that I’d spent the entirety of Sunday obsessing about her and resisting the urge to call her and suggest we get together again.

Just then Cassie walked into the break room as if we’d been planning it. I couldn’t help but feel a jolt of excitement at the sight of her. It had been there before, ever since the instant we met, but now that I knew what she tasted like, knew what it was like to have her soft curves pressed against mine, well, let’s just say the excitement had increased by a factor of a million.

Her eyes went to mine and held for a moment before she looked towards my sister’s husband. A slight flush on her cheeks was the only indication that she was affected by seeing me.

“Oh. Hey George. Hi David. Good morning.”

“It is now,” I murmured under my breath.

“I’m glad you’re both here. I have a couple of tweaks I want to try on the carburetor line today,” she told us. “I don’t want to over promise, but I think it’ll cut at least a minute off the process.”

“Really?” David asked in surprise. “That would be huge.”

“I know, right? I can’t wait to test it and see if my theory works.”

She explained it in great detail while David’s eyes glossed over. He’d never worked on the line and knew nothing about engineering, but he still listened politely. Unlike David, I understood exactly what Cassie was proposing. Her excitement was contagious and as I listened to her plan, I got excited too.

“Okay, how do you want to do this?” I asked.

“Let’s meet with the guys right after lunch and then we can give it a try and see what happens.”

“Sounds good.”

A bunch of people came in just then, signaling it was break time for one of the teams. Cassie nodded, then strode away. I absolutely wasn’t watching her ass as she left.

“You’ve got it bad, don’t you?”

My brother-in-law’s face was a mixture of understanding and amusement.

“Yeah. I sure do.” No sense denying it. The man had eyes.

“Your sister will be thrilled to hear that.”

“I’m sure she will be.”

A few hours later I joined Cassie as she waited for the team to get back from lunch. They were a motley bunch, all guys except for Lillian who was the toughest of us all. She was the mother of three teenaged boys and one of the only women in this part of the factory. She came up to where we stood in front of the control box, a suspicious look on her face.

“What’s happening here?” she asked me.

I let Cassie answer. She was the boss for this project. Thinking of other ways she could be the boss made my dick twitch. I took a deep breath and told him to calm the fuck down. It wouldn’t do for me to be sporting a hard on here at work.

“We’re going to try a different process at sector seven to see how it impacts production time,” Cassie told her.

“This line is like a well-oiled machine,” Jimmy snarked. “We don’t need to do nothin’ different.”

I gave him a steely look, silently conveying that he’d better watch his tone with my woman.

I wasn’t being presumptuous, they all thought of her like that anyway. I’d been getting shit ever since she came here about the obvious attraction between us. No one had been fooled by all the arguing we’d been doing when she first came. Of course we’d never done anything inappropriate at work. Or anywhere else either. Well, except for that kiss in my driveway on Saturday. And maybe it was just my imagination, but I was pretty sure that everyone here knew she’d been at my place over the weekend. Maybe they knew we’d been kissing too.
