Then his warm tongue flicked across my claiming gland sending a shiver down my spine. Arken kissed it, gently, almost reverently before drawing little shapes on it with his tongue. A happy sigh escaped from somewhere deep inside me. Then he borrowed his fox’s long, sharp tooth and bit me. I yelped as the sting cut through me, making everything inside me tense up. I squeezed Arken’s dick hard before I was able to relax. He growled into my gland and then started lapping up all the clear fluid that ran from my claiming gland.

He saw my family, friends, and Heartville. He saw me learning magic and meeting Pox. My memories poured into him until they grew into one long line of Halloween, tasting like pumpkin spice on his lapping tongue. By the time the clear magical fluid ran dry from my gland our mating link was wide open. We were still stuck together, but that was okay. I never wanted to be away from him again. Right here with him was the best place on any world to be.

“Heartville has grown a lot in your lifetime,” he murmured against my lips.

“It’s still growing. It’s a good place to live. I didn’t understand money until I was a teenager,” I laughed softly. “It still always feels like a foreign concept to me. Like I grew up there and we all just did our part and we got all of what we needed and a lot of what we wanted.”

“I have what I want and what I need right now,” he said and rested his forehead against mine. “I can’t believe I’m here. I’m really here. You rescued me.”

“You survived long enough to find the door,” I whispered back, hugging him tighter. “You survived and now you’re safe.”

We kissed some more and slowly his knot gave us enough space to rock our hips together again. I wrapped my legs back around him and lost myself in all the sensations washing over me. Some were mine and others came from Arken’s side of the mating link, but they were all ours. Our sensations all wound up together until it was all I thought about. Everything else faded away as the fire inside my belly burnt hotter and hotter. Everything inside me drew up tight and tense like I might die if I didn’t cum soon. I moved frantically under Arken as his knot loosened more. I ground and rocked, wanting his dick to rub everywhere inside me all at once. When I finally came, sparks flew through my vision and I held onto him for dear life as the proof of my pleasure made a mess of us both.

Above me, Arken kept thrusting and I reveled in every little move he made inside me that drew out my moments of orgasm. I panted under him as his dick twitched inside me. He was close. So fucking close. His thoughts narrowed to a pinpoint only thinking of how his dick pumped in and out of my omegahole until his warm sticky seed finally spilled inside me.

“I’m so glad you’re here,” the words escaped me. I hadn’t planned on saying them. Of course, I was happy he was here. Only now that I’d cum, heavy tears rolled down my cheeks. I’d waited so long and he’d gone through hell but now we were finally together.

“Mate,” Arken said gently and kissed away one of the tears rolling down my cheek.

We ended up on our sides cuddling close together. The tears kept falling until I fell asleep. Maybe it was seeing Obizad die. Maybe it was just some of Arken’s heartbreak leaking over our mating link. Whatever it was, I could handle it. I had my alpha now and we’d figure it out together.

Chapter 9

Arken

The Hidden Fox Village

Two Months Ago

I didn’t fall asleep as easily as my mate. After twenty minutes of trying, I grabbed another shower and came back with a warm cloth to clean him up too. Leopold murmured in his sleep, but didn’t wake. I almost woke him to ask if he was hungry but decided against it. He had cried. He needed to sleep. I was the one who now had a constant gnawing in my belly. I ate a few more big bites of the roast from the fridge and crawled back into bed with my omega. Belly full, balls empty, I curled around him and finally dozed off.

I dreamt of the undead. I was back on Obizad and there was a dragon circling overhead. The undead were climbing on top of each other with plans to reach and eat the majestic, winged lizard. He was fucked. If he landed, they’d eat him. If he kept flying around the world, eventually they’d get him when he got tired.

“Why doesn’t he set them on fire?” my fox asked from inside his inner sanctum.

“Mate! Arken!” Leopold’s voice cut through my dream. I blinked one eye trying to find the solid world again. A furry orange paw slapped me upside the head and my blood ran cold. I knew that slap. That slap meant danger was near. I scooped up Spinach and was on my feet ready to fight before my brain registered where I was. The undead couldn’t be here. They were back on Obizad. I was here. Earthside. Spinach and I were on Earthside.

Except Leopold smelled so afraid and the fur on Spinach’s back was bristled high and prickly. Pox stood on the bed. His posture clearly ready for a fight. Leopold was already on his feet, grabbing pants. Hell! I didn’t really have extra clothes. Was someone here? Had his family heard about our true-mate response?

“Cannibals! Cannibals! The cannibals are here!” a little voice yipped off into my thoughts. It wasn’t Leopold. I glanced at Pox. It had to be him. He was Leopold’s familiar. Was his voice trickling onto my mating link with Leopold?

“Cannibals?” I asked as Leopold tossed a pair of what must’ve been oversized pajama pants at me.

“Zomb--- The undead! The door stayed! There are fucking zombies outside and I didn’t bring a flame thrower with me because they’re freaking frowned upon in magical villages!” he said.

I sprinted to the bedroom window and something inside me died when I peeked out the curtain. Not a single wild fox was in sight, but the village was crawling with the undead. How the hell had they opened the door?! My heart thumped and flopped before launching itself into my throat. We were going to die. Even if we took to the trees there was no way we’d get out. They were spaced too far apart.

Leopold trembled from head to toe. I moved to pull him in close. This was all my fault. If I didn’t exist…. I opened my mouth to say something but Leopold held his phone to his ear. How long had it been since I saw a phone? Was he calling to tell his family that we were cornered. Maybe they had a secret exit I didn’t know about? Maybe…

“PHILIP!” Leopold shouted into the phone and I flinched away. Did they need to talk so loud to make phones work on Earthside?

My hands trembled now too.

“Pollie? What is it? What’s going on?” a gruff voice answered as if the owner had been startled from a deep sleep. Leopold had the phone on speaker phone despite holding it up to his head.

“Philip, you gotta believe me! When I tell you this you gotta believe me! It’s not some stupid Halloween prank!” Leopold said, his voice frantic and his eyes welling with tears.

“Slow down, Pollie. What’s going on? Just tell me because I can’t fix a damn thing I don’t know about.”
