“Yes.” Twisting and writhing, she slapped at his hands.

“Stop. Devin. Please stop.”

“Hmm, I require a forfeit.”

“Forfeit?” she asked breathlessly.

“Indeed. A kiss should suffice.” He formed his mouth into an exaggerated pucker.

“For shame, Devin. You are nothing but an opportunist.”

Laughing, Trinity shoved at his chest. “You would use extortion?”

He gave her a wicked grin.

“It is not every day I wake up with my luscious wife draped across me. We did not have a wedding night. I think a good morning kiss is a fair exchange.”

“Very well.” She dropped a brief kiss on his mouth, but he did not release her. Instead, he splayed his hands wide over her shoulder blades.

“You will have to do better than that, my love.” Devin’s voice dropped an octave, causing a delicious tremor to vibrate through Trinity.

If he wanted a toe-curling kiss, by thunder, she would give him a toe-curling kiss.

Trinity grazed her lips across his once. Twice.

His breathing quickened, but he did not become the aggressor.

A sense of empowerment made her bold. Lowering her head, she traced her tongue over the seam of his mouth.

Tensing beneath her, Devin dug his fingers into her sides.

Oh, this was interesting. Most interesting indeed.

Trinity licked his lower lip, grinning when a guttural growl reverberated in his chest.

Enjoying the tantalizing exploration, she settled her mouth upon his, replicating the sensual movements he had taught her last night.

Had it truly only been last night that they’d first kissed?

Devin threaded a hand into her hair at the back of her head, holding her in place as the kiss grew more intense and arousing.

Trinity was not certain when she lost the advantage and Devin took control. Not that she minded. Her bones had turned to pudding, every nerve sensitized and attuned to the man beneath her as her head swam in a fuzzy, heady haze.

So this was desire.

Time ceased.

Only this moment mattered.

This joining of souls.

Trinity had no idea how long they kissed, and she quite forgot why she’d kissed Devin, to begin with. Only this time with him mattered. This moment. This memory in the making.

Finally, he gently pulled his mouth away.

Her forehead resting against his and lost in wonder and foreign feelings, Trinity willed her breathing and pulse to regulate.

“Will that suffice?”
