“Yeah, she’s fine. She invited me over to where she’s staying for dinner.”
“Are you going?”
“I don’t know yet.” I shrugged.
My mama stood there for a second, looking at me.
“Hmm. I think you should go. Check on her and make sure that nigga ain’t over there doing nothing crazy to my fucking baby.”
I already knew she was gonna tell me to go.
“Okay, but she said he ain’t doing nothing to her.”
“I hear you, but I wanna see for myself. She can tell us anything over the phone. I want you to take pictures.”
“Yes, pictures. I wanna see how my baby living over there.”
“Okay, Mama. I’ll go.”
“Good. And remember what I said. Take pictures so I can make sure she’s good.”
“I will.”
She nodded, satisfied with my answer, before walking over to the bed and leaning down to kiss my forehead.
I smiled up at her. I loved the hell out of my mama. Even with all the shit going on in our house, I was glad I had her in my corner.
I picked my phone back up and texted my sister to let her know that I was coming, and she texted me back and told me okay.
Iwas happy as hell knowing my sister was coming over for dinner. It had been a minute since I’d seen her, and I was looking forward to spending some time with her, even if it meant she had to come over to Cassian’s house.
When I got home from work, the first thing I did was take a shower. Today had been a long ass day, and I ended up seeing more patients than I originally expected. By the time I finished, all I wanted to do was get comfortable and relax.
After my shower, I threw on something comfortable and headed downstairs to the kitchen. I hadn’t decided what I wanted to cook yet, so I opened the refrigerator and looked through everything Cassian had bought. His ass had gone grocery shopping and stocked up on damn near everything, so at least I had plenty to choose from.
I finally settled on fish, potatoes, and vegetables. It was something simple that wouldn’t have me standing over the stove all damn evening. Once I gathered everything I needed, I got started.
I was in the middle of cooking when I heard Cassian and Kendric come through the house, talking about something. I couldn’t make out what they were saying, and honestly, it wasn’t any of my business.
“Damn, it’s smelling good as fuck up in here,” Kendric said as they passed the kitchen.
“Hell yeah,” Cassian agreed before appearing in the doorway with a big ass smile on his face. “Aye, baby mama, whatchu’ in here cooking?”
I rolled my eyes. This nigga knew damn well how I felt about him calling me that, but he kept doing it anyway.
“What did I tell you about calling me baby mama?” I asked, looking up at him.
He leaned against the doorway, with a smirk spreading across his face. “That you was gonna give me a baby one day.”
“When the fuck did I say that?” I raised my eyebrow at him.
I knew damn well I hadn’t told this man no shit like that, so where the fuck was he getting his information from?
“I ain’t tell you no shit like that.”
“Yeah, you did. You don’t remember?” he asked with a smirk.
“Nigga, I think I’d remember telling you some shit like that.” I shook my head and turned my attention back to the stove. “Anyway, I talked to my sister today, and she’s coming over for dinner.”
