“Yeah, a fucking hot-ass mess.” I laughed, shaking my head.
“I know you not the fuck talking.”
“And I am.”
He cut his eyes at me before lowering his gun and sitting his ass back down. My pops already knew I wasn't about to go along with all his bullshit just because he was my father. I respected the man, but that didn't mean I wasn't going to cuss his ass right back out when he started acting crazy.
Once he settled back into his chair, I walked over to the bar and fixed myself a drink before taking a seat beside him. We were just waiting for my mama to call us in there to eat, but the den had gotten quiet as hell. His boys were sitting there looking at the TV like they ain't just witnessed this nigga pull a whole gun out over a football game.
I took a sip of my drink and started laughing again because the shit was funny as hell to me. I swear, it was never a dull moment with my pops.
By the time my mama called us to come eat, my pops had finally calmed his ass down about the game. We all made our way into the dining room, where she had enough damn food sitting on the table to feed half the neighborhood. I didn't know what the hell she thought we were going to do with all that shit, but I wasn't complaining.
We sat around eating, laughing, and talking shit for a while. Of course, my mama kept trying to put more food on my plate even after I told her I was full. I swear that lady wasn't going to be satisfied until my ass couldn't move.
After dinner, I helped her take a few things back into the kitchen before heading to the den, where my pops had already made himself comfortable. His boys had left, so it was just me and him.
I walked over to the bar and fixed myself another drink before taking a seat on the couch.
“So, what's been going on with you, son?” my pops asked. “Other than working your damn life away.”
“Shit, nothing much. Same old shit.”
“You still got that little woman staying over there with you?”
I looked over at him. “Yeah, she still there.”
“How that's working out?”
“Shit, it's going aight. Shorty got a smart-ass mouth on her, though.”
He laughed. “And you don't?”
“Man, whose side you on?”
“I'm just saying, nigga. You ain't the easiest motherfucker to deal with yourself.”
“Whatever, Pops.” I laughed before taking another sip of my drink.
“So, you like her?”
I looked over at him. “Damn, Pops, where the hell that come from?”
“Boy, can't nobody ask you a damn question?”
“Yeah, but you nosy as fuck.”
He laughed and shook his head. “I'm just asking because you don't usually have no woman staying at your house like that.”
“Yeah, well, this ain't exactly a normal situation either.”
“Nah, it ain't.”
I nodded and leaned back against the couch.
“But she cool, though. I fuck with her.”
“That's good. I'm glad to hear that.”
