“Nigga, it both smells and looks like you the one been in here frying.” Duke waved smoke from his face.

“Fuck the small talk, Dragon. Why the fuck was you at my house talking to my wife this morning?”

“Your wife? Who, my butterfly?” I walked closer to him.

“Fuck you mean your Butterfly? Nigga you trying to die on this tacky ass chair?”

He sat back, rocking the chair.

“Chill, youngster. I been calling her that since she was a little girl. You know me and her father Frank rolled tight before he got locked up.”

“That still doesn’t answer why you were at my house this morning. I been with Kharti for a minute and she hasn’t ever spoke your name.”

“Damn, that’s crazy because me and her are close. I guess she doesn’t tell her man everything now, does she?”

I rushed towards the nigga, grabbing him up by his collar, lifting his ass from the chair like he weighed nothing.

“Stop fuckin playing with me and talking to me like I won’t kill you and burn this old ass house down.”

“It smells like this shit already been on fire, god damn,” Duke spoke from behind me, but I ignored him.

“Now tell me why you were at my house, and the shit better make sense.”

I loosened my grip around his neck for him to speak.

“Man, I came over there to tell her that I got word that her father is sick and that she needs to go and see him.”

“He sick? You couldn’t have given her a phone call?”

“I could have, but that’s not the kind of information you deliver to someone you care about over the phone. Her father asked that I tell her in person, so that’s what I did.”

I looked back at Duke to read his response, but the nigga didn’t really give me much, still waving smoke from his face.

I turned back to Dragon and put my finger to his forehead.

“Look, don’t pull up to my house no more, and I don’t give a fuck what information you have for Kharti. The next time I’m going to put a bullet to your head and watch the smoke seep out nigga.”

“Understood.” He saluted off his forehead, spreading a menacing smile across his face.

I let go of him completely and walked past Duke, who followed behind me out the door and down the steps to the car.

When the car doors shut, we sat in silence for a minute before Duke looked over at the passenger seat.

“You know that nigga lying about why he went to see your wife.”

“Yeah, he may be, but the truth will come out soon enough, and when it does, I’ll be right back over here with no words spoken next time. That's on Mirical and you know I don't play about her.”

“For sho”

We pulled off from Dragon’s spot and Duke was riding, jamming to the music playing, bobbing his head until he smacked his lips loudly.

“This bitch.” He pointed out the window to a skinny ass chick walking down the road. The closer my car got to her, I saw that it was Jalisa, Mirical’s mama.

“Slow the car down, lil bro. She talked too much shit to me the other day to be back walking.”

“I eased off the gas, and Duke let down the window.”

“Aye, where your drug dealer in shining armor at? Why he got you out here walking?”
