I throw myself against the door. It bursts inward. Corbin doesn’t move an inch. Neither does his mate. My Prez lies still, not moving as he usually would if someone invaded his space.
I roar at him.
Nothing.
Another roar echoes through the room.
Still nothing.
Growling low in my throat, I bite down on the back of his neck with enough pressure to grip him without hurting him as I start to drag him across the floor. Dead weight isn’t easy to move under the best circumstances. Right now, every inch feels like I’m dragging a truck as I haul him out of the room and through the clubhouse.
Fresh air. I just need fresh air.
Throwing my shoulder against the front door, I rip it open. Cool night air rushes in, filling my lungs. I drag Corbin outside, then collapse beside him.
Come on. Wake up. I need his help. We have to get the others, but I also have to find my mate.
For several agonizing seconds, nothing happened.
Then Corbin coughs.
His chest expands again with another deep breath, then he rolls onto his side and coughs violently.
Good. He’s alive. I don’t waste another second going back in for the others, one by one.
Karsyn.
Justice and Annahi.
Tucker and Lake.
Abel.
Every brother still inside needed to get out. I plunged back into the poisoned clubhouse.
Room after room blurs together. I drag some brothers by the backs of their shirts. Others by their necks. Furniture splinters beneath my weight. Doors rip off their hinges. Pictures crash from the walls every time I slam into them to keep my balance.
By the time I drag the last unconscious brother and woman outside, the clubhouse looks like a tornado has ripped through it.
I shift back, fighting my lion for control.
My lungs burn.
Every muscle in my body trembles from exhaustion.
Still . . . no Sibley.
Justice rolls onto his side, coughs, then forces himself up onto an elbow. Corbin blinks through watery eyes as he looks around at the growing pile of brothers sprawled across the grass.
"What . . . what the fuck happened?" He blinks, looking to his side. "Fuck, Karsyn," he calls out, pulling her to him.
I shift just enough to force the words through ragged breaths.
"Sibley."
Justice frowns.
"What?"
