"I have to get Sibley."
Corbin’s gaze immediately sweeps across the property before returning to me.
"Where is she?"
"I have to get Sibley." It’s all I can manage to get out.
Justice grabs my arm, trying to steady me, but I barely feel his touch.
Nothing else mattered.
Not the gas.
Not the destruction surrounding us.
If Sibley isn’t here . . .
That means someone has taken her.
No, not someone. Kakos.
Kakos has her.
That bastard has my mate.
I’m going to tear this entire fucking world apart until I get her back.
"Hold up, brother," Corbin remarks calmly, his mate settled in his arms. Part of me notes that their children are lucky to have been at Big Daddy’s for the night. Who knows what would have happened if they’d been in the clubhouse with the gas.
"Sibley," I growl, narrowing my eyes at him. "Must get to mate."
"I know, Primal." This time, Justice speaks up. Annahi coming to in his arms.
I take a step back, stumbling backward, my vision blurring, my lungs burning. Suddenly, the world goes dark, and I feel myself falling. My thoughts drift to my mate, the one I’ve denied myself for too long, and now I’m failing her.
Chapter
Twenty-Three
Primal
Pain.
It settles into every muscle before I fully wake. My body feels heavy on the damp grass beneath me, and for several long seconds, I can’t remember why I’m outside instead of in my bed. My eyelids flutter open just enough for the early dawn light to stab through my skull before I squeeze them shut again. Everything hurts. My chest burns with every breath, my throat feels raw, and every joint in my body protests the slightest movement.
What the hell happened?
All at once, the answer came rushing back.
The gas.
The clubhouse.
My brothers.
Sibley.
My eyes snap open, and I bolt upright so quickly that the world tilts around me. My stomach lurches hard enough that I have to throw a hand into the grass to keep from falling back over. My breathing comes in ragged pants as I scan my surroundings.
