“Okay, a Rolls is nice. But a truck is much better suited to these roads,” I tell Gianna as she indicates left down the track. It’s an old abandoned barn that we often use for interrogations or hiding people.

“Well, you could have walked,” she shoots back.

“Do you think I have a problem with my cardio levels?”

“Can we please remember that I’m in the back. And I am her brother. I do not need to listen to this,” Dom groans behind us.

I like Dom. He’s blending in well on the ranch, getting his hands dirty with work. He’s a lot more relaxed than Gianna.

“Sorry, bud,” I chuckle.

She parks up next to a blacked-out Mercedes that holds some of her people. I’ve got some of my guys surrounding the area discreetly too. But I ain’t bothered about a poxy gang that thinks they’ve got big dicks because they ride a bike.

We’ve had a few flow through New Falls over the years, and they never last long.

She kills the engine, and I get out, rounding the front of the car to open her door. I hold out my hand as she shoves her sunglasses to the top of her head.

“You don’t need to be doing this shit for me, Colt. I’m not a princess.”

I lean down and snatch her hand, dragging her up to stand. “And I ain’t no prince, viper. But I am a gentleman, and a gentleman always opens his woman's doors.”

Her cheeks blush, and I lean in and kiss her cheek. Her men jump out of the Mercedes, all displaying their weapons like this is some kind of showdown.

She glances over and glares at the guy with black hair. And I mean death glare. It’s like I can hear her thoughts of wanting to slit his throat.

“Dom, why the fuck is Tomasso here?” she hisses.

“He’s head of security. Why wouldn’t he be here?” Dom replies calmly, but he’s shifting on his feet.

Nervous. Why?

She tuts. “Because the last time I saw him, I shoved a knife in his crotch? Isn’t that a clear indication I don’t want that asshole near me?”

My eyes go wide. There it is. “What did he do?” I ask.

She flicks her attention back to me. “He was Fabio’s best friend. I believe he was in on the plan to throw me out, although my father believes Fabio worked alone. The last time I saw him, he made a comment I didn’t appreciate, so I let him know.”

I tuck her hair behind her ear. “I can kill him if you want?”

She chews on her lip. “Oh no, cowboy. If he’s going to die, I’m going to be the one to do it.”

I smile; I can’t help it. “Alright.”

I follow behind her to her guards; Tomasso doesn’t even look at her.

“Surprised you can still walk,” she says, pure disgust on her face.

He doesn’t respond. Still doesn’t even make eye contact.

“She’s talking to you. You work for her. Therefore, you can fucking use your words to speak,” I tell him.

He glares at me, and I smile before he spits out, “And who the fuck do you think you’re talking to? You fuckin’ country trash.”

I clench my fist; Gianna’s palm lands on my chest, pushing me back.

“Speak to my husband like that again and next time, I won’t fucking miss. I’ll hack your dick off with a saw and make you eat it. Do I make myself fucking clear?” Her voice is disturbingly calm.

Tomasso nods.
