“They still being bitchy to you?”
“They’re just standoffish,” I answer with a sigh.
Josh: What are you up to?
Me: Watching the game with Pete. You?
Josh: Make sure he’s not looking.
What?
I glance over at Pete, but he’s studying the game intently, not missing a single play or route. A picture loads on my screen, and I press my knuckles under my chin to stop my jaw from dropping. I angle my phone away from Pete, even though he couldn’t possibly see from the other side of the room. The picture is of Josh’s dick. He’s in bed, painfully hard, but his face and thigh tattoo are out of frame. My eyes flicker from my phone to the TV and back, torn between wanting to stare and feeling like I shouldn’t.
Josh: What do you think?
I bite my lip as I type, trying to avoid looking at it. He must have known sending me something like that would rile me up, but I genuinely don’t know how to make it work tonight.
Me: Like I want to sit on it.
Josh: It’s ready whenever you are.
I’m twenty-two but acting like a teenager looking for a way out. What does a girl have to do to have sex with her boyfriend? Man-friend? We haven’t technically labeled things. I wonder how Pete might react if I were dating someone else openly and wanted to go over to their place. He’d be weird about it, but he couldn’t really stop me.
I sink farther into the couch. Even if I did lie to Pete about dating someone, that would be a lot to explain this evening, so I go back to texting Josh.
Me: It’s tempting. We need to do something soon.
Josh: No fucking kidding.
Feeling a little daring for once, I type a new message and send it before I lose courage.
Me: What would you do if I was with you?
Josh: I guess we’re playing THAT game again.
Josh: I would massage whatever that lotion is that smells so damn good into your back, down your legs, and spend way too much time rubbing that bubble butt of yours. I know you’d be wet, but I’d still eat you out like you were my last meal.
I draw in a sharp breath as heat floods my cheeks, my feet kicking against the couch cushion before I can stop them. Pete glances over, and I still them, replying once he looks away again.
Me: Sounds like a good plan for the away game after Thanksgiving.
Josh: Are you fucking kidding? That’s three weeks away! We gotta plan something a lot sooner.
Josh: If you were here, what would you do?
Me: Sit on your face.
I hit send with a little giggle.
“You’re not texting Sadie. You’re flirting with some guy, aren’t you?” Pete calls out. “You’re red as a tomato.”
My phone buzzes, and I would give anything to see how Josh replied. “Don’t worry about it.” I sound dumb and normally could respond with something snappier, but this damn guy…
“Well, I’m worried about it. Who is he?” Pete asks, his tone suddenly more serious.
“A guy. Time will tell, okay?” I reply.
“Just be careful,” he warns before turning his attention to the TV. My phone buzzes again, and I open our text conversation again.
