I know I told you to forget about me. Please don't. I was wrong, and I'm sorry.

I just want to be somewhere I don't have to be scared all the time. You're my father. You can see it on the report. Please don't let them take me away before I get to meet you.

MELODY

Since we last spoke, I had been on edge. I’d been anticipating him coming back home to tell me more. After Aubrey and I parted ways, I went back to the hotel and took a shower. I worked on my book some more and took a nap.

Keenan was the number one thing on my mind. I could feel that I was close to getting him back. Around 10 pm there was a knock on the door.

I opened it before Justice could knock a second time.

“Hey,” I greeted, wrapping my arms around him.

“You seem like you’re forgiving me more and more,” he said, then kissed me.

“I guess so.” I smirked.

“You ready?”

“Been ready. Where’s Storie?” I asked.

“At Quest’s. She’s spending the night. I’ll get her in the morning.”

“You’ve had a long day. How was the ride to Pittsburgh?” I asked.

“It was okay. I’m going to miss Dream but Storie…”

“Storie, what?”

“She saw when you called. I think that put her on edge. I just hope she doesn’t do anything stupid.”

“We’ll be okay,” I said, holding him close.

“I need you to know you ain’t gotta prove shit to me tonight. I know it ain’t in your nature to kill.”

I nodded.

“If you wanna leave, we leave. Aight?” he asked.

“And then what?”

He watched me for a moment.

“He’s getting handled no matter what.”

“Thank you.”

He nodded and grabbed my hand to lead me out.
