“Jade, please sit down.” She slowly takes a sit. I pull the coffee table closer, sit on it, box her in, and gently take her hands.

“The twins are our children; I’ve known for a while now. I just wanted you to tell me, it would seem my dad terrified you” I see fear in her eyes but I refuse to let go “You are right to have been scared of him because he did attack you, your recent hospital trip was not an accident” she has deer in the headlight look as she tugs but I refuse to let go of her hands. I held on.

“Let me go Naseer!” She fights and tugs harder.

“No, my lady, we have suffered enough.”

“He’ll never stop. I can’t lose my children, Naseer, please, they are all I have,” she says hysterically and continues to tug for me to release her.

“Our children, Jade. My dad can’t get to you again. Two days ago, the king stripped him of all his power and title. He’s on permanent house arrest. My mom is currently with Taimani. He’s alone with no access to anyone.”

“What!?” She tugs harder. I held on, not letting go.

“Jade please listen to me.” I see how frightened she is, and I understand her fear.

“I’m so sorry for what my dad put you through but please don’t give him the power to ruin us. He has kept us apart for five years, that’s enough. We can’t give him anymore. I will always love and protect you and our children. I need you to trust me and work with me to crush the fear he instilled in you, please, Jade.”

I notice she tries to hold back the tears.

“His he really in house arrest?” she asks shakily.

“Yes, and I’m committed to making sure he stays there.”

“Are you sure you won’t hate me later?” her lips tremble.

“I’ll probably hate myself first before I hate you. I created this mess and I’m sorry, I unknowingly dragged you into it.”

“What about Princess Nadra, she’s always going to be around you and I doubt I won’t retaliate if that woman crosses me again.”

“Nadra colluded with my dad, in a few hours she’s about to go to prison for five years, and when she’s out. I doubt she would have the resources to come after you.”

“Prison, what did she do that King Jodra can’t crush?”

“In a few hours, you and I will watch it. Now are you going to tell me about our children.” She sighs and remains quiet. “How did you find out about them, your sister told you, didn’t she?”

“Taimani didn’t and I’m still upset with her. Ken recorded you when you were drunk, you told him. You could never hold your liquor, Jade.” The surprise on her face is clear.

“I knew I said too much but I couldn't remember anything, when neither of you said anything, I thought it was just my imagination.”

“I asked Ken, Josh, Rilwan, and Taimani to continue the secrecy because I wanted my father to remain the same. I wanted to see what angle he would come at you; I certainly didn’t see the angle of him teaming up with Nadra.”

“I couldn’t tell you about them, I’m sorry. I found out I was pregnant after your father offered me money to leave you. I’ve never been so scared in my life. The moment I found him waiting for me in my dorm room, after my exams all I felt was fear.” She begins to tell me everything that happened with my dad and after his visit. She went to sleep at Nate’s place for a few nights because of my dad. When she found out about her pregnancy and discovered she was having twins. The initial fear of handling two children and the joy she felt when she delivered them and how their lives have been in the last few years.

How my sister found them and insisted on being in their lives. Then her job and how she started her business. She goes into full detail about their daily routine and their move back to the US. She details everything, the children’s likes and dislikes. She brings out pictures telling me everything.

We talked at length about our children. I decided my first time talking to them won’t be on the phone. It will be in person. Jade says good morning to them but this time. I see their faces. I don’t want to cry as I watch them showing Jade the outfit and toys Grandpa just got them.

They are beautiful as they animatedly tell Jade all about the school trip that’s happening today and a visit to some playhouse that Leah had promised them if they behave.

“So, will you guys behave and be good otherwise Leah won’t take you,” she threatens.

“Promise, we will, Mommy,” they immediately echo. It was funny, I could tell they would agree to anything just to visit the playhouse. Leah announces in the background that it’s time to leave for school.

“Love you my lady and my gent,” they giggle.

“Love you, Mommy.” She hangs up and turns to me. “They are precious right.” I nod.

“We will fly out at the end of the week to see them.”
